@JxT1957 - yes it will run on batteries I think it's either 8 or 6 'D' cells. It has a slide out battery compartment on the rear that you can swap with a power pack for running on the mains. Unfortunately I don't have a battery pack and I would love one but they seem to be even more rare than the boombox! When you say you need to find a battery pack, do you mean this unit uses a special rechargeable battery, or does it use standard C size or D size batteries in a special battery holder?

i mean, you have to buy a special battery pack for it, as you can't use standard batteries (EVEN though you put standard D-cell batteries in the pack). they're really really rare and go for around twice as much as the actual boombox on ebay. ive only seen 1 in 2 years.

Yes it also has a single tape deck. The sound quality is bang on for a unit of its age. The album Illmatic was released in 1994 and the track playing in this vid is The Genesis, the opening track on the album. A true classic.
