When I was 25 I hiked 200 miles in Death Valley. I was out there a month and saw 14 people total. I was driving a cab half the year and the rest taking long trips mostly in the desert but also the Sierras and mountain ranges in Nevada. Now I'm 52 and almost never get out anymore because of my job and debts. Brother do what your doing as long as you can. With all the money i make beleive me i loved life so much more driving that cab and hiking out into the wilderness.
Congrats man! You've got some great videos. The PCT and CDT look awesome. My wife and I hiked the AT last year and are currently planning a Colorado Trail hike. thanks for the videos. Always good to see folks getting out and livin' it up! Cheers to your next adventure . . .
Hey i have heard that portions of the continental divide trail are unfinished/unmaintained, i was wondering how the cdt compares to the pct as for conditions and completeness
That was outstanding my friend I was stuck to the tube watching, I do envy you would love to do at least a part of the CDT. Oh BTW I am sorry about my beard comment awhile back didn't know about the thru hiker tradition . Great report glad to see you completed your journey and made it home safe .
Holy Shit man, that is a long hike. How long did it take to finish? And how was the hygiene and food? Hunting or showering? Or just packing on those MREs?
@Tnate17 It took 144 days, or 4 months and 22 days. Hygiene was pretty decent. It was up to me, but it's not a terribly dirty trail. I showered at least once a week when I got to town. I did no hunting, I don't hunt. And anyways, I spent nearly all of my time hiking. I also ate no MREs. I generally just bought food in grocery stores, and sometime mailed food ahead to myself. Lots more info on my blog!
That was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your journey my friend! I've been waiting for this upload.... was pleasantly surprised to see it. Some excellent photography and very nicely put together! Always look forward to your uploads. Take care....
Hope u dont mind me asking this.... but how do u guys get the fund$ to do all this awesome great living... cause between college and my crappy part-time, i barely get to hike on weekends... i would love to see and walk(i love walking... dont like driving, i dont enjoy the nature inside a car) all the places u have shown in ur vids.... but, i cant even afford the kind of backpack u have lol... so thats the reason for my question how do u get $? what u do for a living? so i can try it hehe.
@kessler003 This is more a financial management question than anything. I live below my means. I figure that I spend about $5-6000 a year on hiking. Considering that I live frugally, I can make enough money to live on in a short while. It's just general frugal living, and understanding your priorities. Stay out of debt, etc. I don't have kids or a house, both big expenses. What you do for a living is up to you. I prioritize having an alternative lifestyle.

Probably one of the most incredible things I've ever seen and now I'm contemplating setting up a trip to at least do portions of it each year.
