  • Bunny please work on your audio capture and/or reduce the amount of compression of your video! I have a Carvin Bunny Brunel BB75 bass and they sound SO MUCH BETTER than the sound this video delivers! They have some of the clearest sound of any bass I have ever heard! You may be giving us a free theory video, but it isn't doing anything for marketing that amazing Carvin bass guitar. Oh the humanity!

  • You can`t bring great grooves to life unless you know about music theory,it you only open your eyes to new perspectives, new possibillities and new ideas to explore, the bass player is he one who MUST know at least how to build the chord of any song`s harmony, and then go on from that point

  • What the hell is the point of all this? Where is the FUCKING GROOVE???? Dammit people....Jaco must be turning over in his grave for all the misinterpretation that started with his brilliance. All this theory shit doesn't mean ANYTHING if it doesn't GROOVE!!!

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE You know that the stuff Bunny talks about ... Is taught for more than 600 years. With that knowledge you can play/understand music far more complex and rich than a meaningless groove the bass player play over and over while all others musician solo. Your comment just show how many bass player are ignorant or don,t give a shit about actual knowledge to be a better musician not just a better bass player.

  • All of these arguments are stupid. Theory can only make you a better musician. Period. Not knowing theory and being able to play doesn't make you a badass, it kind of makes you an ignorant musician. That's like a writer not understanding sentence structure.

  • I play by watch, listen & learn - no sheet musik. Only one of my daughters at 5 years of age could do sheet musik ie. 1st. musik lesson: watch, listen, learn & play. 2nd lesson: understood sheet musik and played. 3rd lesson: writing and playing her own compositions. She is the gifted one in this family. However, I am persistent to learn from examples such as these. Why? I HAVE TO! & I am grateful that Bunny teaches for free. Thank you Bunny! :)

  • Master at work!

  • great lesson.... please make some more.

  • This is the best explanation of Bass chords I've ever found. Thanks a lot. Sound could be better tho :)

  • ive played for a long time but i still dont read music or even tabs. i play what sounds right to me. this lesson is confusing. i wish he would show examples in songs where these different things would work. if i could hear it used it might make sense to me.

  • go to school and learn ur shit

  • ive already been to all the schooling that im going to. im guessing you are one of those people that like to throw around fancy sounding scale names because it makes you sound smart. my ex wife was very smart in school but dumb as a rock when it came to real world situations. if you were old enough maybe you and her could hook up.

  • the only scale u need for this video is the major scale and then you adjust the 7 chord with the flats were necessary.

your probably one of those guys who doesn't pay attention to the direction of the conversation and starts talking about his ex wife when it is completely irrelevant

all that i meant by that comment was that taking a music theory class would bring some clarity for you in understanding what hes talking about

  • thats not the way you said it and you know it. i wouldnt have a problem with someone saying it that way. i think you are someone who thinks they know alot and you like to shoot off at the mouth before you think about what youre saying. and no i have never taken a music class of any kind but it hasnt kept me from playing.

  • look don't get me wrong, saying " Go to school and learn your shit" is a bit blunt lol but its true you know ur shit and you wont be confused

  • i watched the video again and i can understand what hes saying. i just dont see where alot of it would be used. thats why i said i wished he would use some of it with music to show where it would fit. i understand the number system. i play guitar also so i can understand triads and making chords.

  • knowing the chords is how bass players are able to walk the bass.

  • i can walk the bass but i learned either by hearing it played or playing what i thought sounded right for the song.

  • that's defiantly a good thing to have a trained ear like that but just doing everything by ear can really put you in bad spot when your playing with a group that has sheet music in front of them. you gotta play the part on the page or your gonna piss off a lot of the other musicians especially the drummer and rhythm section

  • yeah. ive played from sheet music before but it was written in the number system. thats the only thing i can read somewhat.

  • @clewi1091

Your both right. The fact is that all he is going is going through the various modes to match the chord which are all derived from the major scale. BUT, to be honest with you the greatest bass player I know cant tell what note he is playing, let alone what key he's in or scae he is playing. Some people just have a gift.

  • i just based it in the major arppegios of it so id say its B so how in the hell it became a Bb ,is it a dorian mode?or the myxolydian?have no idea.

  • C7= C dominant 7 so it has b7. Cmaj7 or CM7 means you'll have a major 7th. ''maj'' or ''M'' indicates that the major 7th, not the chord is a major chord. Becouse ''C'' is major already.

  • wtf ,u guys dont know how a major chord like the C become C7 ??its so simple .

we know that a scale has a 8 note ryt including the octave of the root note so like the C have a note of C-E-G so if u add the B it would become C7 bcos the B is the 7 note of the fuckin C scale!got that!

  • U still have to learn man, C7 need a Bb not a B

  • Comment removed

  • yea dude. you need a Bb to make C7 chord. and he's just playing through the notes that makes up the scale thats all. not specifically C7 or Cmaj7 (which has a natural B instead of a Bb).

  • C7 has a Bb cause its dominant (you lower the 7th) Cmaj7 has a B natural

  • WTFUCK is he saying?!? hahaha. idk why he's doing this madness, its like some random Hungarian music lesson!

  • chill milkyhendrix,

He is French, thats why the weird accent LOL

  • I don't understand why he's playing flatted seventh and a natural seventh in the same scale in the beginning....

  • jeez i wish this wasn't such a bad rip

  • hey! do you know like a 7/11? YEAH! A 7/11 I GOTTA GET SOME MILK FOR BREAKFAST TOMORROW!!!HA...HA...HA....

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one confused by this! =) Ahh, the beauty of watching multiple times. ;)

  • took me a couple of plays to understand. this stuff is confusing

  • i gotta come back and remember all them arpegios!!

  • shit! he's good i got a headache

  • dude knows some theory and arpegios!

  • with a lil bit of patience we can learn a lot...

  • This is great teaching I Learned somethings.Thank you.

  • dude ive checked out two of these vids nd they look like exactly what i wnt to no bout the sound nd stuff is terrible, cudnt u do a better job of recordin this? please:) if der was a reason y it isnt ddat gud fair enough but its kinda hard to listen to or understand
