  • I just wish I had a variac laying around so I could regulate the wind up/down to sound like a bigger siren when I do my supercharged Model L video. You managed to make your cheap little dinky-ass American DJ thinger sound like a damn STH-10 with that setup!

  • @cauberallies yes, it sounds something like an STH or model 5 or thunderbeam or something with a high signle tone they way i powered it up and down. not sure if you have an ebay account but you can find Variacs on there for good prices new and used I believe.

  • sounded my model 77 this year made a video should check it out

  • I blew my Leslie RS3K. I wish I got a video! How loud is this siren compared to a Model 2?

  • @Thewoog34 i would say not as intense as a model 2 but possibly more piercing though

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • @MrSciencetificsasuke Thank you. Happy new year to you too!

  • What is it?

  • @cauberallies it's a small 120V American DJ siren "turbocharged" by a centrifugal blower

  • @kb3mzw

That actually has a really good sound for what it is!

I was going to use our Stihl backpack leafblower(which moves enough air to launch a full water bottle 40 feet, and can break asphalt off the road) to supercharge my Model L on new years, but I forgot until the last minute when it was too late.

  • @cauberallies You should just make a video of that (from far away, comparing supercharged to non-supercharged) to give us an idea of how insanely loud it is!

  • @Thewoog34

You know what, I am going to do just that. I just so happen to run a recording studio out of my house, and as a result I have some pretty high quality audio recording gear. I've yet to use it to record anything siren-related, either. I'll do normal, with blower, and maybe a third run where I block all but one port and rig up a horn to the remaining one. I live in a wooded area, so the echoes should be pretty intense too.

  • @cauberallies go for it man! can't wait to see/hear the recording.

  • @cauberallies I don't have the most amazing equipment, but I took one of those cheap grey sirens from ebay, removed the front cover and finger guards to increase airflow and change the timbre, replaced the dinky 12v motor with a 7200 RPM weedwhacker motor (110v) and rigged up a blower system using a Toro leafblower. I can't wait to get a video of that.
