  • Baaad Asss!

  • Truly one of the best movies I have ever seen. If this movie had to be remade let's say, to reach wider and new audiences. Then I prefer if David Fincher or Christopher Nolan did the remake.

  • @oOFedoOo Most people probably wouldn't want it to be made mainstream. The "hunt" of the rare gem of cinema is part of the great experience- as all we pretentious film appreciators/aspiring directors know (c'mon gotta have a sense of humor.) I would REALLY, EXTREMELY (x10, haha) wish that they would not make any western adaptation of this film, but if came to the lesser of evils, I think you might be right. The only comparable chill-inspiring films seen in the theater are Fincher/Nolan ones.

  • @nmal777 The rumors really don't bode well. :-( lol

  • @MisterDoughboy you said it perfect.i share the same thoughts this flick is classic

  • What is the soundtrack for this scene?

  • @woostar88

    /watch?v=GR4rXH5Aqa4

  • Glad to see Spike Lee is going to make some money off of bastardizing someone else's brilliant work. :/

  • I heard this was one take?

I will watch the Spike Lee remake and make judgement.

  • the reason why the thugs didn't stab him or crack him over the head is because they did not want to kill that man. they are just some coward thugs acting to be gangster. they are not murderers. you can see that clearly in the fight. when the man pretend to be dead, they are like checking whether the man is really dead. you can see that they are actually afraid of from their action.

  • There are dozens of opportunities for his opponents to stab him or crack him over the head with a bat etc. Instead they just hesitate and patiently wait their turn to have their ass kicked.

I appreciate the work that went into making this scene. But overall I think it sucks.

  • i remember watching the making of for this scene... crzy dedication to his work, take after take... took like 5 times or something to get it perfect...

  • Classic play dead tactic...always works

  • All in one take.

  • 360p isnt HQ.

  • Watch and learn Hollywood

  • Old boy is Shakespeare, repomen is Joel Schumacher.

  • I like Josh Brolin but I can`t imagine how he`s going to do this fight scene...? I guess we`ll see a lot of editing though...

  • 7 people are blood type AB...that doesn't make any sense, my bad

  • this reminds me of the last fight scene from repo men..shit is dope

  • @MaNeblue14

seriously do you need your movies spoonfed to you???? Redpo men WTF??? Not a part of the movie can touch the sides of Oldboy. U need a mtf movie support group!!!

  • Hollywood bastards should bring their own ideas and dont remake masterpieces

  • THIS MOVIE DOESN'T NEED A FUCKING REMAKE !!!!!

  • @limpbizkit85 Why? I mean is perfect the way it is. Why would somebody ruin it doing a remake? The actors, the music, THE ESSENCE... you can't just remake that.

  • @vilchisss im under the impression that Spike Lee is planning to remake this piece of art. I love spike lee as a director, but I agree, this does not need a remake

  • @vilchisss but HOLLYWOOD will do that (((

  • HQ !!!?

  • I hope they keep this scene in the remake. Best wish to spike lee who will be directing the remake and best wish to josh brolin who will be playing the lead and hope that christain bale signs on to play the villian...

  • @727alucard Honestly? Spike Lee? The guy hasn't made a decent movie in a good while, and Josh Brolin? Really? Personally, I think we need to go towards a more artistic setup, cuz frankly, Spike Lee's "art' is generic crap in most forms.

  • knife in your back, Dae So!

  • The only remake of this I would approve of would be directed by Chris Nolan, and Christian Bale would play the lead with Hugh Laurie playing the antagonist.

  • @TheLockon00 Nah...

Nolan knows how to create intelligent and well thought through films, but not something like this.

Oldboy shows so deep emotions , not just from the acting....

One who would be more fitted as director would be Aronofsky, but i don't think that a remake could even get in the reach of the original one.

So i say no to a remake. Why even try to? The film itself is a masterpiece.

  • @Eluo Pffft. Aronovsky is overrated. Pi was amazing. Requiem is overrated. Never saw Below. The fountain and the Wrestler were excellent, but Black Swan was really lackluster.

I don't see where you get off saying Nolan's films don't show deep emotion.

  • I forgot how amazing the music was, one of the most well done scenes in the history of cinema.

  • I watch this everytime I need to get rid of bad taste from crappy movies.

  • Oh Dae-su vs Kazuma kiryu(yakuza series)

  • i had to watch this movie a few times, but damn.. what a film.

  • Very unrealistical. :\ but looks good.

  • Too bad indian cinema copied it already in 2005 and named it zinda .look it up starring sanjay dutt .

  • @devilsown18 Haha I know. Too bad that was the one I watched first.

  • it would be a shame !

  • OH MY GOD PLEASE DONT REMAKE THIS PIECE OF ART !!!!!!!!!

  • kmod

  • can anyone find out what knife DaeSu dropped????

  • korean moveis are the best asian movies of all times !

  • It sucks i was spoile dthe twist before seeing the movie :( i neva got the same feeling

  • damn this scene is intense!

  • Holy crap I litteraly started gigiling halfway through this fight.....I have to see this movie!

  • "I'm too fucking mad to die"

  • I just love his maniac smile at 3:23.

  • I can do that, but without getting tired or stabbed

  • EPIC 3:27

  • One from hundred - one against hundred...

  • Music? I really need to know what the backround music is lol

  • gipsy/nigger tactics

  • What is the name of the background music composed for this scene?

  • @lilshorty69ner "the old boy" from the oldboy ost

  • More realistic. I mean really: youtube.com/watch?v=fB0_vJUc3o4

    trollololololol

  • in case u guys dint knw, this particular scene took 17 days straight in filming, all in one shot

  • reminds me of the epicness of xiaoxiao 3, awesome.

  • 2D'd

  • I love how fucking exhausted he is the whole time.

  • 2:15 look at the guy front of him XD

  • This is what REAL moviemaking is all about...

  • he must be related to pacman, few face punches and them thugs r down

  • it's because many of these men aren't fighters....they're just teaming up against him anyway. That's why they seem to suck so much.

  • MR. Vengeance is the best though, Anyway, 2010 Best Movies are in my latest list.

  • dumbasses, you dont stop when hes on the ground, thats when you hit him the most.

  • @myndwork Maybe they felt that was cheap shotting, or perhaps they needed him alive. I'd have to watch to find out.

  • Hit your weapon on the wall! It will totally help.

  • it is surprising how the fighting scene goes for 3 minutes with one shot, you don't see this in any other movie...I mean...one mistake...and you have to start all over again!!the director of this movie was just genius by doing this!!

  • There is one reason why I like this fight scene. Because it is realistic. Unlike scenes you get in hollywood movies, this scene shows you that there are two types of fighters. Ones who are scared and ones who try their hardest. These are the types of fights you would see happening in real life, not in a ring of course.

  • It's not going to be remade. Apparently the project is dead

  • the guy at 2:15 just failed badly

  • I think South Korean Cinema really has found an interesting blend between what could be termed eastern cinema and western cinema. It makes for unique movies which really can not be pigeon holed into either.category.

  • This is the most believable fight scene I've ever watched. Absolutely amazing.

  • Hammer beats stick!

  • brilliant film,,just awsome.

  • STOP. its hammer time!

  • @admaski lol

  • wow - great fight scene and the music really made it

  • 2:15 hahah the dude misses the punch and falls!!! lololol

  • @Egahm23 Dude had his fucking foot hammered numb nuts

  • @SkrewL00se he still missed and fell

  • One of the best movies ever made!

  • This is how I feel every day.

  • this movie is near perfection, so inventive and powerful ... not only it shouldnt be remade, it is impossible to remake it in the us unless you want to turn it into lame crap ...

  • He duff them up badd

  • This is one of my fav movies!

Watching it for the first time got me really into Korean cinema! A MUST see

  • This fight scene is so fake...yet real. Its sooo good, I love this movie

  • Awsome movie, not only this scene but the entire movie is EPIC.

  • in questa scena senti proprio la fatica e la disperazione di un uomo

  • this make me wanna go pick a fight for no reason

  • south korea is best korea... imagine a bunch of crazy vengeful koreans like this in a war...

  • Love the soundtrack.

  • this fight scene is the best fight scene I have ever watched in a movie. I personally think no other director can really surpass Park Chan Wook for this fighting scene so far.

  • i would love to see how he murdered them in the elevator

  • Man. Brutal, scrappy heroes are infinitely more entertaining than the hypermasculinized ones.

  • he got the sharingan!

  • I remember eating oranges while watching that scene

  • shoryuken

  • lol at 2:14 a guy swings and falls over

  • the theme kicks ass so does the movie

  • NICE I LOVE IT

  • i hate remakes as much as the next guy. but if they did remake this movie, tarantino should be behind the camera. that said i still don't want it

  • i love the fatass beatings. he looks he think hes a baddass then he get owend so many times hahah

  • yes i wish there was an english translated version tho

  • I HOPE HOLLYWOOD DOESN"T RREMAKE THIS MOVIE

ART OF THIS CALIBER IS SACRED

    DO NOT TOUCH!

  • I actually think there will be a remake of this movie

  • @Sakiera423 "The producing team (Dreamworks, Spielberg, Smith) announced on 10 November 2009 that the project is dead."

  • @asian95drag0n Good, i don't want this movie ruined by hollywood just like The Eye, The Grudge and The Ring were. Whenever I say I love the movie 'The Eye' everyones like 'Ohh the one with Jessica Alba in it?!' and i'm like -_-

  • @asian95drag0n oh yeah

  • @Sakiera423 well if your thinking about the american version they already decline the idea i think will smith was ssuppose to be the main charater but i think its a good thing they didnt because they probably would have screwed up this movie

  • @pubpukeNfight totally agree!

  • @pubpukeNfight Agreed, somewhat. Regardless, this movie is basically taken from a chapter of The Count of Monte Cristo. Nothing against it, it's one of my favourite Korean films. Just saying, everythings a remake.

  • @pubpukeNfight I hear they trying :''(

  • @pubpukeNfight the just annoced that spike lee is going to do a remake of this movie they got a damn good director i am curious about seeing how this will come oout

  • @pubpukeNfight They are..check out the article on Angry Asian Man's blog...They say Spike Lee will direct it

  • @pubpukeNfight

    TOO LATE :(

  • @pubpukeNfight To bad they will.

  • @pubpukeNfight They already are Josh Brolin is in it and Spike Lee is directing

  • @pubpukeNfight

    They are :c...

  • I read that the director had a whole shot list planned but for some reason decided to throw it away on the day of the shot and go for just one long shot. It was a great idea!

  • @TheUndeadDrifter yep. but why they dident show the elevator fight too.

  • perfect..

  • What would your muderweapon be?

    - A hammer..

  • NO FATALITY? :((

  • WHAT MOVIE IS THIS?

  • @jidjid123 Old Boy

  • why was he detained for 15 years

  • @jparkfosho Watch the movie, it ruins the incredible end if someone tells you that.

  • Probably one of the best fight scenes of all time.I like how they didn't make him too bad-ass to even touch. You could be a triple black belt in real life and still get your fair share of hits against THAT many people.

    Great movie,too.

  • This Movie is one of the best i've ever seen!

  • the fact that this scene is all done in ONE shot, no screen cuts is amazing.

  • damn i gotta say this movie now

  • nothing to envy to Matrix...

  • If i were him, i'd grab the hammer at the end, and finish them off one by one.

  • This is one of the most legendary fights i have ever seen.. old boy got serious heart..

  • if u listen to the commentary w/ the director and 3 main character actors, (w/ english subtitles) on the dvd, it apparently took them 17 takes to film this scene. Thats outstanding. the commontary is great, i'd recommend having a listen if u get the chance.

  • Ah I found the video! Look up "Turkish Boxer Owns 10 Dudes!!"

  • The actor Choi Min-Sik apparently took 7 months of boxing lessons for the movie. So yeah, the second half is pretty much what I think it would look like when a boxer fights a bunch of people who come in swinging wildly. The scene reminds me of a video I saw on youtube where a former boxer fights four people and he knocks them all out.

  • those guys who took the boss out are lucky as hell

  • i wonder if bill clinton watched this film.

  • fat dude at 2:42 gets it the worst

  • I think the fat dude at 0:59 got it the worst.

  • @junio637 Worse than the guy with a knife in his back?

  • i they could have 86d the fake kicks, but still funny as hell

  • *movie

  • the subject matter and the plot twists in this move are pretty gross/disturbing

this scene is fucking awesome regardless

  • great film

  • i love it at 2:15 when the guy tries to do a punch and twists his ankle.

  • this scene is a one shot .

    no special effect .

    EPIC AND GENIUS

  • Well, some CGI was used to correct some blows, but it's still fantastic

  • There was the knife CGI also. Not it changes how amazing the fight scene is.

  • @drktigger the knife distracted me from how amazing this fight scene is.

  • @arillle

actually the knife in his back is special effect ;D

  • This was dirty, gritty, grimy, and achingly beautiful.

  • When it comes to acting and the music, this film is also one of the better films ever made. The music sticks in your head and every time I put in my Oldboy-DVD and the theme-song comes up, I'm just flooded with good memories.see the full movie at BigOnlineMovies . c o m

  • A typical gang like anywere on world, a bunch op people all hanging out together, thinking there hardcore when beating on 1-2 guys with weapons.. going against a fustrated man who spend so many years in a small room watching fight movies, armed with a hammer and the mindset that he has nothing more to lose

  • @Tjextreme2

they weren't a gang, just the prison workers. They don't fight much.

  • @Kevo216666 why?

    just curious.

  • That's the whole point. They were afraid of him. They weren't "fighters".

I personally liked how some of them tried to pull off fancy fighting moves that they learned at some cheap dojo but failed only to be beat down by the crazy, fearless man.

  • LMAO 3:26 - 3:35

  • Amazing fight scene, awesome song

  • hahaha.....Oh Dae- Su gets so pissed when he couldn't bump off all these dam gophers with his hammer

  • haha yeah man talk about one hard ass mo-fo :P Legend of a scene. masterly done

  • @FoggyFishburne DAMm i never seen this movie but looks amazing..Is the music added by the video uploader or is it part of the movie? goes very well with it

  • I thought this movie was disgusting.

  • @lovefink2

I know what you mean its so fucked up man

  • 어서가라 ! 피 많이 흘렸다!
