  • I seen a onstar at. Best buy

  • My Lincoln has auto dimming mirror.....does this mirror?

  • @mrbrandon71 Yes, it most certainly does. The following is from the "Details" section for the product on the main Crutchfield website: "Auto-dimming: A sensor that detects glare and adjusts the dimming of lights from behind your vehicle in your mirror as needed.". Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • I'm not understanding the confusion? A VW Tiguan is a redone dodge grand caravan/ Chrysler town and country with firmer suspension and better brakes, so why wouldn't GM say yes they support it?

  • @TechForThought Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. I’m sorry we do not have more information for you regarding the FMV in a Volkswagen Tiguan. We are working with fit information provided by the manufacturer and at this time, they have not confirmed fit or compatibility with this vehicle. I wish I had better news for you there. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Hey Crutchfield. I have an 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. I believe the compass is a part of the factory rear view mirror. If I choose to go with the FMV, will I loose my compass?

  • so what do you do if your mirror is stolen.

  • @ghfghf7 should have locked it up but hindsight is...er, well I guess no more hindsight if it's stolen.

  • Does it have the auto dimming faeuture built in it?

That is a deal breaker for me.

  • @tom11zz884 Sorry, there is no "Auto Dimming" feature but the unit does provide dedicated buttons to increase/decrease the backlighting. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • The only downside to this is if your car is ever stolen they can't shut the car off when the police catches up to them.

  • Ohhhh god, I might be sick, OnStar on a Ford...... noooo!!!!!! Only think worse is a Hyundai!!!!! WTF, dumb marketing move. If you won't onStar and the Longest Lasting Most Dependable Truck on the Road, get a Chevy. Yayaya you trolls, "Oh but Ford sells more!!!" .... Ya well all I got to say to that is look up how many are still on the road, and fact is since 1981 more chevys are..... oh yes just chevys, not including GMC.... even though Ford out sold them for 34 year.... they dont last. Thanks

  • @TheMontecarlo85 Great point.. that's why I use Orion... it let's you control your own data through a web or mobile portal. check it out OrionVIS it stands for Vehicle Intelligence System. Oh yea, it has all the OnStar features, works with ANY VEHICLE, RV, BOAT, ATV, etc and it does much more!

  • @TheMontecarlo85 and to be correct. for does outsell the silverado, it does not always outsell the siverado and sierra combined.

  • Does the sound play through the cars stereo or through the mirrior itself?

  • @clintaclark The FMV offers a built-in speaker for the voice prompts, OnStar Advisor, and hands-free calling features. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • I do digital work for OnStar and wanted to help clear up some confusion. OnStar does use the Verizon network but the antenna used in the system is stronger than the average cell phone.

@xithim, you can also check out the coverage map on the onstar website. (I'd include links but YouTube doesn't let me) Hope this helps. -Stacy

  • I need a techie answer... I get this thing linked to my phone and I'm going down the road. Suddenly, I get into an accident and my phone smashes into the dashboard. HOW is this thing going to call for emergency services? Or, what if I need help, but I'm in a dead spot for my service?

  • @xlthim

The FMV does not use your cell phone to make calls to OnStar, it uses it's own builtin cell phone. However, if you are out of cellular range it won't be able to make those calls for you, emergency or otherwise.

  • @crutchfieldtv Whose service? any available.

Just asking because some providers have better coverage than others.

  • @xlthim

You pay OnStar, you'd have to ask them which cell providers they use. I'd guess it's more than one.

    Crutchfield.

  • @crutchfieldtv OEM onstar uses a receiver/transmitter that is much more powerful than your cellphone. not sure about the FMV unit

  • @FusionBoy2010

Since the OnStar FMV does not in any way integrate into your factory system, your factory system (SYNC included) will continue to function as it does now.

    Crutchfield.

  • Would I be able to get OnStar FMV on a VW Tiguan? I used the compatibility tool on the OnStar website but it wasn't very helpful. Any info on putting this in the Tiguan?

  • @WashDCgirl94

We will need to know more than the make and model of your vehicle to check compatibility. Best thing to do is call us. 800 315 0030 and we can help make sense of it all.

  • @marcusj8798

I checked the OnStar website and it says it does not support the mobile app. Maybe in the future it will. (crossing fingers)

  • @marcusj8798

I just wanted to let you know that I checked the OnStar website and it does not support the mobile app. But overall it's still a good deal. And maybe in the future it will support the mobile app. (crossing fingers)

  • @marcusj8798 Mobile APP? Not sure what you mean by that. The FMV provides all the services of OnStar through the replacement rear-view mirror. There is no integration with smartphone or tablet applications. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

    Thanks,

    Crutchfield

  • Is This Mirror Connected Thru The Cars Speackers Like Normal GM Vehicals . Because Its Pretty Loud !

  • @5093981202

The OnStar FMV has its own integrated speaker, and does not connect to your vehicle's sound system at all. It is loud, all on its own.

    Call Crutchfield to get one!
