This guy was like an early Jeff foxworthy, no edge whatsoever. All comedians from that era were clean, they had to be, but guys like Steve Allen, Bob Newhart, Shelley Berman and Mort Sahl still had inventive material. Bet those guys viewed Andy like modern day comics view the blue collar crew
I got to meet Andy Griffith when he was filming an episode of "Matlock" in Monrovia, Ca. He was so gracious and polite. The episode was a Christmas special, and had three street urchins who witness a murder. After a day's filming was over, I saw him call the boys over, tell them they did good, and hand each of them a twenty out of his own wallet. He also made sure I was eating from the film companies caterer's trailer. The TV show used my bike shop as the main toy store set, and he said" thanks"
Thank you so much for this. Never thought I'd get to hear this again.
I first heard this on a 45 RPM record back in 1956 when I was in second grade living in St. Petersburg, Fla.. And I damn near wore out that record. "And he popped up and said, 'I'm right 'chair.' "
i appreciate this comedy far more than some of the ridiculous crap that's out now. A comedian doesn't have to use profanity to be funny. The true mark of a comedian is the ability to make people laugh without using profanity or belittling someone else. This is classic comedy that's STILL funny today.
I seriously love me some Andy Griffith. He is truely a treasure...

It's a shame most people don't know just how funny a comedian he was early in his career. This is hilarious!
