Yeah! However if he works on his technique he'll be very good ... He has very nice and pleasant sound.... and he's not so old seems to me, so has a lot of time to improve.........
Hey , expertlirico of the hell !! you say in low notes MORILLO cannot overpass the Orchestra ?? Are you deaf or wath ?! I was in Theater to listen to him , singing NABUCCO as ZACCARIA (one of the most difficult Verdi's Roles) and I say that he OVERPASS the Orchestra with no problems at all , in high -medium & low Notes !! His Voice is big and brilliant and sometimes ENORMIOUS !Please,if you are in UK in April/May 2008 , go to listen to him , singing MACBETH as BANCO and then you'll understand !!
The true "basso profundo" was always a comparatively rare voice and Verdi himself looked outside of Italy for that voice type of voice being an admirer of the Eastern European or "Slavic" sound. Its no accident that Chaliapin, Christoff, and Ghiaurov were either Russian or Bulgarian.
Do you mean my Comments that Verdi looked outside Italy for that Bass sound??? Why do you say that it's BS?? There was mountains of books on the subject and it's in Verdi's own memoirs and letters. Was HE full of BS too??
Well, you are right, even Garcia is writing about separate type of bass called 'basso Russo' although I think they are rather weak in the height.Did you ever hear recordings of Shalyapin? He sounds more like what people tend to call bass-baritone then really a basso profondo. On the other hand Cesare Siaepi sounds like a basso profondo.Apologize for saying your comment was a lot of BS, that was a bit too rude. However some find Verdi full of BS. For example Wagner, although I don't like Wagner.
hes completely unmusical - its a GRACEFUL aria, not Hagens "Hoiho" !

I agree, in low notes he can not overpass orchestra. Dark sound, but a little fabricated.
