  • Thanks so much for posting! I'm a Yankees fan, but loved Ernie. He was the best in the business right up there with Vin Scully. Ernie was also one of the classiest people in broadcasting.

  • @hoopsheavenpa I sure do miss him!! Truly the Best

  • It was the first game of NBC's game of the week when Jack Morris threw that no hitter which may had been the earliest no hitter pitched in the bigs and the Tigers would go on to win the world series that year.

  • @mbrand19971 I was only 2 years old wish I couldve lived that "84 season!!

  • @Prachsportsedge1 84 was quite year many good things were happening which I now look back.

  • I remeber watching this one. For some strange reason it was a rare Saturday afternoon game I could watch the Tigers in NC. This was part of a magical beginning to a magical year. Verlander is better!!!I'll still never forgive Morris for leaving.

  • I can remember being a kid going to games at tiger stadium and still listening to Ernie on WJR right there at the ball park

  • oh Ernie Harwell I miss ya Sir

    GO TIGERS!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Ernie Harwell

  • There will never be another Ernie Harwell. A real gem behind the mic!

  • @leshager2009 Even with all the games on TV now, I still sometimes prefer listening to the Tigers on the radio. How else am I supposed to hear Jim Price tell me about the art of pitching?

  • Thanks for putting this game up. I grew up in South Florida as a fan of the Tigers. For some reason, the Tigers game was not shown in South Florida on tv that day.

  • Two of the greatest baseball voices did this game: Ernie Harwell on WJR Radio in Detroit as the voice of the Detroit Tigers, and Vin Scully on NBC.

  • I was at that game and after the 6th inning we were all Detroit fans. A great memory. Good job, Jack.

  • WOW, it feels good to be from Detroit!!!!

  • mmmmmmm ham

  • probably morris's second greatest game

  • i was 9 years old at the time but i still remember when my dad came to get me to listen to the 9th inning. 26 years later i wanted my daughter to see a no hitter but gallaraga got fucked.

  • Wow, this must have been a Satur-DAY Game.

  • Was this game being played at Comiskey Park?

  • @Jiltedin2007 Yes, it was on NBC as the Game of the Week.

  • @Jiltedin2007 yes if was opening day

  • @CArchivist Opening Day on a Saturday?! I find that very hard to believe. Did it rain that Friday before? If so, was this the first game of the Doubleheader?

  • @Jiltedin2007 Not opening day. Game 4

  • @Jiltedin2007 It was the 4th game of the year......Saturday Game of the Week on NBC

  • RIP Erine!

  • Sox fans booing the walk to Luzinski.....love it.
