the painted world has several items you need for the trophies: two (or more?) pyromancies, a few weapons, an ember, Souvenirs of Reprisal, Priscilla's soul, and her tail. the last of these is difficult and must be done very carefully. took me several tries. look it up!
I applaud you resting at the bonfire first. That's a smart move. You need to buy some prism stones from the femal undead merchant for the drops you're not sure you want to risk.
