I realize Adam is a comedian, but Adam overanalyzes things. People celebrate your birthday to do something nice for you, not because you DID or DID NOT do anything to "deserve" it.

I used to like using my birthday as an excuse to throw a party because I enjoyed throwing parties. I would provide all the booze and everything. Never expected a gift or anything. Just wanted to get drunk with friends. Past 25 though....I avoid anything to do with my birthday.

I always try to avoid my family members on my birthday. Maybe I'll try to work over an over time shift or do some extra studying late at the college library. But of course. I'm the a-hole the next morning for wanting to avoid my own "special day."
