so, what do you think is the best weapon to kill a rathian? I'm stuck on monster hunter portable 3rd and ive tried to kill a rathian and yet to fail many times. Please respond as soon as you can, thank you.

@TheMytoya I think hammer is the easiest. You can charge while she is doing fire balls and then attack when she finishes.

Also you can charge after she has run at you, when she turns to face you there is a chance to pound head.

@elmotron Alright thx. ive tried killing it with dual swords (bone sword+) and switch axe (Bound Roller) but failed, i guess the hammer will do the trick :D all i have to do is make some flash bombs, explosive barrel bombs, and a trap.

@TheMytoya Truth is any weapon can kill any creature as long as it does enough damage + if you know how to use its full potential.

Ive easily killed a rathian with DS,SNS,longsword,hammer,bow,la­nce,gunlance, but i've failed to do it with others.

I have difficultie killing great Jaggi with Switch Axes when some people can kill jinouga with them

I can kill a alatreon solo with longswords, when some cant even get a full spirit bar

So just use wwhat ur best at and try different tactics.

i just got my first flint after killing 20 qurupeco's

i used it to make a qurupeco fire hammer

and i just see that i coulda made that same hammer, upgraded it and it woulda done more fire dmg and pure dmg -_- , i wasted flint that's gonna take me 20 more qurupecos to get

No, this video was from the demo. So yes you do have to paintball stuff.

Finding it strange that the Rathian has been given a "hover" attack. Seeming as all the mob descriptions... from all the previous games have defined the Rathian as a Wyvern who likes to patrol her territory from the ground.

And what's with the new looks? It looks... awful.

I know I'm being pedantic but... surely a little more thought should have gone into this than what has.

Think I'll hire before for a week before I buy =p.

nice kill there~ i c they finally made normal dodges more effective for once, your first rathian kill? its more impressive since u did it with a fire weapon instead of plain steel or water/thunder elements so u put in more effort then u should have :3 or since its a demo, do u even get a weapon choice for hammers o3o?

It was my first time to kill the rathian in the demo.. But I have played monster hunter since the first game.

In the demo u cant choose from different types of hammers. CAN'T wait for the full game...
