  • the beginning of this legendary track sounds like it would make a great black and white opening with strobes for lucifer arriving to invade humanity with a crack under his eyelids dripping with 100s of maggots compensating tears for a titantron in a live concert

  • Bare in mind at this point in their career they were opening for other bands still, so it's not surprising that nobody was really that into it,most people probably weren't there to see the band that later grew to sell out arenas.

  • This is fucking excellent!

  • You can TOTALLY hear the Judas Priest influence in this.

  • All the guys in the front row are watching this now saying, "damnit, THAT's how good they were! If I had known that I wouldn't had wasted my money on that heroin before the show!"

  • Great song... but who gets credit for the title? Slayer, Kreator or Destruction??

  • @deformed666 slayers tormentor shits on every other tormentor

  • @n64expansionpack That was NOT the question

  • @deformed666

slayer, show no mercy came out before

  • they opened with their two best songs

  • What the fuck is with the fans!? I'd be diving off the stage and knocking people over if I were there!

  • wtf this isnt the album version is it ???

  • @dumbxkid this is bootleg

  • slayer had like a interview on one of these old early 80's bootlegs, they were talking in a graveyard I think ? and saying something about if you don't like us go listen to iron maiden ? or something like that ? do you know if that interview is on here ?

  • wow, so ein slayer-konzert wünsche ich mir heute nochmal! die machen ja gar nichts! da könnte ich dann ja meine helden mal richtig live erleben (ohne gedränge)! *lol*

  • thats a massive pit

  • if slayer played this song still the pit would go nuts...the guitar riff once it kicks in kicks large amounts of ass.

  • This is proof that the crowd reaction doesn't always go hand in hand with the quality of what's being played on stage.

  • fuck public

  • god damn slayer is fucking amazing. especially their old stuff.kerry king is just fucking kicking ass out there.

  • hell yeah, this video is great!!!!! old Slayer from waaaaaaay back in the day.

loved those VSD vids mentioned in the last post. "Kill your Kids" was akick ass song.

  • Thanks for posting this vid and the others of old Slayer. really cool to look out.

recommend you all check out some vids from 1987 by VSD from Baltimore. VSD- Conformity Sucks, Phantasmagoria, Kill Your kids, and 2 other songs.

  • what a boring crowd.

i never heard this version of tormentor before

  • I agree but its 1983

    Theyre not that famous yet...

  • true, true

  • Slayer 4 Life ! 20 ans que jecoute stalbum la...yé tjr aussi bon tabarnak !

  • and the solo's . . . ?

  • I wish Slayer had stayed like this for the rest of their life. The Slayer after 'Seasons..... ' sucks ass. Anyways, thanks for the upload Mr. video-uploader. A big thumbs up from me. This is a very rare video.

  • Slayer still rules. Even after ''Seasons''. Jihad or Cult?

  • Every band has to move on and change their influence and if they didnt they wont make any money if slayer would of stay the same as the 80s they woulnt be as famous and plus musicians get tired of writting the same kind of music all the time...

  • I know......

  • kerry king long haired!!!

  • love thejudas priest headbanging at the beggining lol

  • people in 1983 seem to be less violent than today lol

the pit for this song nowadays would be crazy

  • haha i thought the same thing.

if i was in there id be going crazy.

    these people suck

  • lol the crowd must have been like, oh shit this is new hahaha.. honestly though i think i seen one picking his ass =/

  • The late 80's were better, but it would be great to be on that show too:)

  • mi rola favortita de slayer jajaj

  • hehe you can see how shy tom is, he wouldn't eat much before going on stage because he got stagefright and then he would puke all over, but this fucking rules. TORMENTOR!!!

  • that would've been cool to go to this show but i wasn't even born yet.

  • 1 of my favourite ever slayer sogs!!

wish they wud still play it:(

    Best band ever!!!

  • the most old school album from slayer

  • lame ass crowd

  • Was this performance before they finished Show No Mercy?

  • Verse riff is one of the bestest riffs of all time. Fucking Great!

  • audience is retard.....weak.....

  • look how weak that fuckin audience

  • no solo? it was still bad ass...but i like the solo.

  • damn, they have been around for over 25 years now, thats insane..

  • And Maiden have been around for over 30 years :P

  • I love the synchronised movemtns of Kerry and Jeff haha xD

    Fucking love this song though!

  • @Tapionthegreat1 Yeah, K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton moves! Slayer were into Judas Priest then!

  • best slayer song ever.....who agrees..........

  • i fucking do

  • totally; and it's on their best album.

  • oops... comment was in response to aaron900012 (3 months ago)

  • this is great, any chance of footage of Slayer playing maiden's Phantom Of The Opera WAYYYYYY back in the day??!

  • This is some siiiick live footge!!!! The sound is great!! Are you afraid of the niiiiiight!!!!?

  • fuckin sick old school thrash!

  • Its the song before The Final Command

  • I'm wating for the day they play this song again! I wonder how it would sound. in recent concerts they have played Show No Mercy and it sounds excellent.

  • This is my favorite Slayer song!

It's in that movie Rivers Edge

  • Although, I must admit I've never heard that version before. Tommy was saying it was what started them off...was this off their first album or something, was it, before Show No Mercy or what???!!! Because, it is not the version off of Show No Mercy that's for sure.

  • well they added that slow intro to it, tormentor is on show no mercy butit starts with that fast riff u hear when its one guitar in the begginging

  • The bit from 2:20 is different.

Really stoked to hear this version though.

    Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hell yea

  • Unbe-fucken-lievable...these guys are Gods! Go Tommy Araya!

  • what ever some people say or think slayer rulez arnt they guys FUNS OF SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • danowar1989 dude its a little gig and it was just for fun. people are just chilling and are amazed. who cares its cool

  • I dont think these people were able to handle slayer, after it was 1983 here and the metal scene was starting to begin. Nobody was ready for slayer. I would be to amazed to thrash if i was there.

  • @danowar1989 well i think its cuz these people had never seen anything like them before that. i dont know... more of an aweing crowd.

  • @danowar1989 This was 1983, Metal just rolled into town and we were going "FUCK YEAH!!!"

  • THIS SONG KICKS ASS! i got it about a week ago on my ipod and its got over 200 plays so far somehow.. i have too much free time....

  • why did the people just standing there blurry ... ?

  • MY FAV SLAYER SONG!!! KICK ASS!!!

  • slayer rules \m/

  • now thas what u called old school thrash metal!!

  • I say is Judas Priest and Venom the bands that established the landmarks for Slayer's sound

  • Whoever gave this guy a thumbs down is a moron. Itamhoe, you're absolutely right about Priest and Venom being Slayer's biggest influences.

  • Yeah, their sound (amp settings, vocals) is very Venom-esque...A lot of their now-obsolete cliche' jumping around and general clothing style were Priest influenced, and if I'm not mistaken, they were discovered playing a cover of "Phantom of the Opera."

  • its funny cause the crowds arent moshing there just standing there like zombies lol

  • FUCK YEAH this song kicks fucken ass Slayer fucken Rules!!!

  • fuck ya man, oldskool, they should of stayed like this, good guitar work and complex drum work, very great work

  • This song is amazing!! Probably best Slayer's song!

  • I think Jeff and Kerry tried to act to much like K.K Downing and Glenn Tipton there with all that cliched guitar posing. But after all Priest were their idols!

  • SLAAAAAAAAAYER!!!

  • thanx 4 postin

  • I KNOW YOURE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the best slayer song from their best album HELL YEAH

  • fuck yeah.

  • Holy Shit! Sheer Aggression! Where did u get this! Slayer reigns undisputed over all that is Metal.

  • Slayer...what more can i say...they kicked ass then and they kick ass now.

  • Hey! This part from 2:30 to the end, isn't on the record! But it's understood - it's way too sweet for Slayer! ;)

  • Yeah, it doesn't really fit with them or the song for that matter.

  • I like that part :-).
