Pakistan has never been considered to be part of Persia. Before 1936, Pakistan never existed, it was part of British India. Also I don't believe that Afghanistan has ever been considered to be part of Persia though i'm not as sure about this as I am about Pakistan.

Why would the OT authors switch from talking about their own times to talking about the far distant future ? OT prophecy is never that long-range - it's almost always about events near at hand. Long-range prophecy implies determinism, & something like "automatic writing". Not good.

And the 400 years was counted from the time of the patriarchs, since the actual stay in Egypt was 210 years from the time Israel (Jacob) arrived. After they fight against the one sitting on the horse, they "Israel" will dwell safely, finally because the King is here. They may not have added as much as you think. It is true that satan does try and gather another army at the end after the 1000 years with God and Magog, but when one reads the entire chapter of Ezekiel 38, you start to see that it actually is the day of the Lord's return. It speaks of a huge earthquake which we know happens as a sign of his return.

Can't be in the near future if this pastor's geography study is correct. First of all Libya was so weak we destroyed their air defenses from the sea. If Ezekiel 38.2 can be unfulfilled - so can Isaiah 7.14. The position of the speaker treats prophetic books as talking about things still future in 2011 AD - not as talking about the prophet's own times. If Ezekiel 38 is about events after 2011 AD, there is no reason not treat Isa.7.14 in the same way. Or the other OT verses that misused as prophecies about Jesus. The solution ? Drop the mistaken idea that the prophets spoke of events far in their future. Ezekiel 38.2 has been fulfilled.
