  • It's quite peaceful compared to the noisy and polluted Saigon nowadays. However, I think that is the obvious price that we have to pay for the process of developing, and many developed cities all over the world experienced the same thing.

Although I cannot deny the fact that this video is lovely, I still love the recent Saigon, for its activeness and liveliness. :)

Thanks Mr. Michael Rogge for providing me with a larger view about the city.

  • Incredible..beautiful city..really different then now. I was the first time in HCMC in the 1999..now is changed a lot..but in this videois a really beautiful city..I think how it can be if Vietnam had not any wars..what a pity!

  • I'll show it to my mom. Great! Thanks for posting it.

  • Great rare video clips...'ve brought a lot of old time memories.

Really appreciate it. Thanks a million.

  • this is so good, please post more of this, I'd preferred to live here then !!!

  • Beautiful footage. This is truly a gem. Thank you so much for posting.

  • Millions thanks!!! Priceless!!!

  • I love Ho Chi Minh city

  • Saigon had never been a capital of anything called Republic of Vietnam. Saigon was just a city occupied by French, American and their dumb-ass followers.

  • Sài Gòn ơi,

Ta nhớ người như người đã mất tên,

Như dòng sông nước quẩn quanh buồn.

  • Thanks for sharing. The Saigonais lost their independence and freedom in 1975 at which time the ruthless domination of the VN communist party was imposed on them.

  • @not4dat how da fuck does it relate to this video ? This video is not about politics, it's about a beautiful city. Fuck off you piece of shit

  • Superbe Vidéo. Que de découvertes !!

    Pierre.

  • Ai way đc Clip này cũng hay thiệt ^^

  • Thanks MichealRogger for your clip :))

  • Thank you to American for bombing my country. Not...

  • @vndigital The US didn't bomb Saigon. The Vietcong terrorists, however, did.

  • @saigonpunkid you are very dumb.

  • @vndigital explain?

  • @saigonpunkid read what you wrote to me, analyze that it's self explanatory.

  • Very rare and precious footage. I love to see my hometown on that period!

  • i agree, change the title please, It's Saigon, not the goddamn HCMC

  • There is no ho chi minh city in 1945. Please edit the title

  • tôi iu sài gòn :x

  • hòn ngọc viễn đông

  • After more than 50 years, now what, Saigon is now a bunch of bullsh!t !

  • @dmeo41 Still better than the brothel the USA made Saigon into.

  • @kai333kai334 lol, what about the unofficial brothel spread everywhere now =)). compare the death rate of traffic accidents and robberies now and back then at the point of US arrival

  • @dmeo41 [citation needed]

FYI, I can easily find documents proving that Saigon was a huge brothel when the Americans were around.

  • @kai333kai334 it's even a huger brothel now.

  • - like mạnh =]z

  • Nice

  • @MichaelRogge where did you find this footage? If you have more, please post them. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • @99kittens I have one more item on YouTube on the outskirts of Saigon in 1945 and also on Vietnam one hundred years ago. Search for michael+rogge+vietnam

  • SaiGon is peaceful without Viet Cong since 1945-1975.

Naming SG to be HCM city was replaced beauty to the ugly.

Wonder why SG looks so dirty now. Sorry

  • I really do not know who you are, however, I would like to say a great thank to you for posting this vid. I do love Saigon, love the place where I was born. And I believe all guys will love this city in the first coming!

  • Sài Gòn ngày xưa nhìn thích quá! Người dân SG, cuộc sống SG.... Tôi yêu SG

  • I've lived in HN since I was born. But my impression about SG has never changed. I love SG women. SG was great for the people like me. Compare to SG in the day and age, SG in the past is more peaceful. Next year I'll visit SG to fulfill my dream. Thank for posting this record.

  • i love "Sài Gòn", i dont like "HCMC"

  • nói k fai chứ sg bây h xô bồ quá

  • ngày xưa đẹp thật giờ đỡ nhiều rồi ...

  • Sài Gòn 1945 đẹp lắm Sài Gòn ơi!

  • @cuongktv Please let me have your observations in English!

  • @MichaelRogge: What a beautiful Saigon! That had been stated within a song about Saigon!

  • @MichaelRogge means the city in 1945 was really beautiful

  • @MichaelRogge Saigon was really great and beautiful back then 1945, was considered a shiny gem of Asia. Those were the days , just good memories.

  • @MichaelRogge Dear Micheal Rogge, thank you for uploading this unique video of Saigon during the 1940s. However could you please edit its description "After the independance Saigon was named Ho Chi Minh city" Saigon was the capital of the Republic of Vietnam, which is an independent country since 1955. It's only after the communist take over that the name was changed in 1976. Thank you and wish you a happy new year!

  • @MichaelRogge It's mean, Saigon 1945 is very beautiful

  • @MichaelRogge means : Saigon beautiful.

  • War will come and extended to 20 years
