These techniques are part of the PRT (Pivotal Response Treatment). Very successful in reducing the symptoms of autism, sometimes to the point where no autistic symptoms are present in the former autistic person.
Wow instead of attacking the Mom, how about you people consider that she's possibly on the autism spectrum herself. She also looks to be suffering from depression. But I believe she is undiagnosed mild autism or aspie. Makes me sad that no one on the show considered it.
My son is bipolar. When he was little, he was far ahead on the learning curve but was slow to speak. My mom had me wait until he would say words before giving him something. It was so very hard, but it did work. Even though he said "two" instead of "cookies," I'd give them to him. Because I always offered him two. :) It was progress. He's an adult now, and I'm still part of his adjusting to adult life. All the hard work is worth it, in the end.
Thank you for this video ...i did cry when i saw the mother nearly cried its really difficult to se a nice baby not able to communicate thats really upssetting i have a family friend their son suffer the same the poor mum fells so upset always crying shes up to the point where she look her self and her son at home dont want to see any one cause she think people might think her son has a mental sickness i have no idea how to help her .
Incredible parents! Before critizicing remember children do not come with a manual. Parents of children with austism or other special needs rneed professional support which includes teaching them the right techniques to teach to their child grow and develop. They also need to connect with a parents group to hear success stories from other parents. Help is out there! I am a great believer that all children can learn, but sometimes it requires one step at a time.
It upsets me to see Tristin cry because I see how difficult it is for him and that not being able to communicate is frustrating. I'm glad that they're helping him.

don't worry.. there are a lot of people that have lots of pain in their lives and they can't cope with it.
Hence the unappropriate reactions at the wrong places... don't worry, you have (had) a difficult situation, but you were strong enough to go and ask for help! continue be strong!
You have no idea how much fathers stand by side line waiting for their son to be ready to get into sports or do things together like an adventure.
Autism seems like hearing that it's impossible to ever dream big.
With a little imagination fathers can do things like play Pooh sticks, make backwards chaining in soccer or whatever sport for the goal or point, & bring aspect of favorite videos into great imagination & play times.
Men have strength when they get their hands dirty in dreams.
When I taught high school special ed it was the opposite of this. The principal was so cowardly that she'd say "don't make them cry under any circumstances."
Most schools nowadays push indugence, and that's why kids aren't getting the guidance they need.
oh man i actually met her and her husband on a conference for work, she really is amazing. i work with all autistic children and this method is incredible
Having read 116 books & over 2,000 journal articles on autism & behaviorism. I conclude with you that the Koegels are the best. I've met them more times then I can count on one hand.
I loved it when the first time I met Dr. Robert L. Koegel he quit in the middle of his speech & summed up his whole career in the next four hours. Totally rocked. As I knew each article he was talking about. Did he do this because he saw my stack of his books on the table & me taking notes feverishly.
It hurts to see how the consultant is working with Tristian. I did it with my son and I sincerely hope you explore the RDI method which works like wonder.

Has he been tested for the 7q11.23 duplication syndrome? The syndrome mimics autism and is often mis-diagnosed
