R achel that was beautiful,I heard this lament forty years ago on the great pipes and played by the stalker for Elizabeth Regina at Balmoral and hearing it like this evokes some memories. We had a little service of remembrance on the estate of someone'elses for Diana who I met briefly and we played Macintosh'es Lament again on the great pipes and memories sad and glad came flooding back hearing you now, thank you so much.
That was stunning. It nearly brought tears to my eyes. I saw your comment that it is available in David Johnson's book. I just received a copy of that in the mail the other day. I am new to Scottish fiddle. I am so inspired! Thank you for your elegant and very moving performance.
if it was not for fiddle players writing all the bagpipe music into fiddle music a great majority of bagpipe music would have been lost thats around the time they outlawed the pipes good job
a wonderful collection by David Johnson called "Scottish Fiddle Music of the 18th Century" - it's also on one of Bonnie Rideout's albums, and you can buy it in the book of transcribed songs from that CD, from her website
Great piece--never dreamed it could exist! I'm finding new ideas, new heroes, influences to inspire me through encountering this channel. Thanks again!
This lament's ground is so much sadder on the violin than the pipes. I was quite
entranced!
