I have this on vinyl and never tire of listening to Leontyne sing. Unfortunately the audio on this video is lacking. None-the-less the strength, beauty, richness and empathy of Leontyne Price shines through.
This amazing lyrical voice singing the gorgeous, lyrical, melodic flight of notes from Turandot. No one, but no one, can sing this aria the way Leontyne does. The incomparable divine Ms Price.
Ms. Price was iited t sing at this centennial celebration of the 100th birthday of the Boston Symphony. It's easy to understand why.The arias from Il Trovatore and The Egyptian Helen are also posted on YouTube. Collect and savor them all!
WHEEEEEW! OMG! Leontyne caresses those high notes with no problem at all!!! She's so incredibly sensational! This was graceful, peaceful, serene, and just simply beautiful. You really can't take anything away from Leo...she's simply remarkable!
This beautiful voice is certainly more dramatic at this point. This is from 1981. She began singing the role in the late 50's. I'l leave it to you to figure out the rest.
There's a recording in print of Turandot on the Myto Records label. The cast includes Leontyne as Liu, Nilsson as Turandot, and DiStefano as Calaf. This performance was recorded live on 6/22/1961 at the State Opera House in Vienna. Price is electrifying.
MY GOD!!!!! Her control as always is flawless. I love the sense of cry and drama in her tone. Just wonderful!!

Gran artista

that even the most beautiful voices such as this one, have to expire, is a remarkable mistake of nature. I wish la Price could sing forever.

Stammi bene.
khastiello 2 years ago
