  • good lens?

  • @gattaka1982 Really good lens! It's optically great and has constant f/2.8.

The shallow depth of field and bokeh is very nice. Autofocus is accurate

and fast enough for 95% of subjects. I would once again take it over

3,5 times more expensive Nikkor 24-70 (or N28-75).

If the optics are your main concern - look no further - IMO this lens delivers

Nikkor image quality for reasonable price.

  • @bartosznazar thanks :)

  • you just HAD to show off that 8 fps shooting, didnt you? haha

  • @whatthejustinbieber - yep but just for the comparison of loudness :)

  • yeah... I have the 17-50/2.8 tamron with built in motor and it doesn't sound nearly that loud. good lens though. Tamron makes a nice product even if it isn't quite as fast (focusing) or durable as Nikon lenses.

  • @martinaee Yeah but the Nikon equivalents cost more than double the tamron versions so you can't really argue or complain much...they do their job rather well for their price

  • I have the BIM (built in motor) Nikon mount version and the AF noise is nowhere as obnoxious as this. Subjectively, I'd say about half the decibel level. Speed is comparable. Only disappointment is that it is only as sharp as my kit 18-55 EDII. However, my kit lens is a very very sharp copy, and the Tamron can reproduce this sharpness all the way down to f/2.8

Color is a bit warmer than the kit lens, especially using flash. So far focus accuracy is dead on (knock on wood).

  • You're right and as I said - the noise is so loud only

on the video maybe because of the microphone being to close or sth. It's absolutely usable and non-disturbing in real world usage.

  • Can you tell me which version of the Tamron 28-75 you use?

On my D80 i have got the one with motor included and its as fast as yours. Perhaps a bit more silent.

Many Users complain that the AF-Speed of the motorized version is slower, but i've got my doubts!

  • Everything that stands on the lens is: "Tamron AF 28-75mm 1:2.8 (IF) MACRO o67 A09", "Aspherical LD XR Di SP". On the box there stands "Built in motor". That's why it's rather slow compared to some other lenses driven by in-camera motor... If I could choose I'd take the version without it. Talking about loudness - it's not that loud as on the video. For me it's absolutelty not disturbing, so I see no real problem here. Maybe my microphone was to close / to sensitive for this task :-/
