Dear god, Can you please take back justin beiber, lady gaga, lil wayne, and any other crap artist of today and bring back the Beatles and Queen? please? k thanks!
My friend and I are both 13, and she listens to rap music and whatnot, so the other day I pulled this video up and I told her "Watch the crowd, and listen to how they sing along and clap! And especially listen to the music, and the sheer voice of Freddie! And the guitar, the bass, and the drums!" Nothing, and I mean nothing, compares to the talent and power of this band! I would seriously give anything just to be at any one of their shows! 20-odd years too late, I tell ya.
Twenty Five straight minutes of goosebumps and shivers, OMG! What a show! And I'm watching it on a phone with skull candy headphones- cant wait to watch this with real speakers! Peak of Freddie's career, healthy, fit, handsome and was it his day! Wembley must have been shaking to the foundations.
We hardly need to use our ears. are music changes through the years..Lets hope you never leave old friend. like all good things on you we depend....so stick around coz we mite miss you. when we grow tired of this visual.....brilliant freddie brilliant.........
Anyone who was at, or watched Live Aid on tv, will always remember Queen's set as one of the greatest live performances ever. Freddie understood the opportunity the global showcase gave them - unlike most of the other performers on the day who just seemed to think that turning up was sufficient enough for the cause - and deliberately went out to capitalize on the opportunity to reinforce Queen as one of the best bands of all time. You're irreplaceable, Freddie! RIP
i'm 13 and ii absolutely LOVE queen they were the best band ever well they still are to me RIP freddie :'/ this shitty music that we have these days....i want queen to be no1 on the charts again :/ you truly are legends all of you, they were the bees knees Freddie sang all sorts music:rock, slow, jazz, opera fair play to him he could sing everything he was also a fantastic performer & entertainer LOVE YOU QUEEEN & RIP Freddie :/ the music era has now gone along with you Freddie miss you :/ <3<3<3x
gosh im 13 my generation listens dreadful crap like pop, hip hop & tecno how are there people on this planet who can´t absolutely love this band and all of there brilliant songs?
Freddie, thank you for your nice, yet very short visit to Earth. You must have been just a guest because you're surely out of this world. We miss you so much!
Why didnt they play all of Bohemian Rhapsody? They stopped at the best part. Even without that it was a great performance though, but I dont know about "the best live performance ever". Im guessing that claim is mostly because of how many people watched this. Great show though. Queen was the shit.
@Nunzi1001 They didn't because they couldn't without using a backing track and they didn't want to because it was a LIVE performance. Although sometimes they did during a live show but they all left the stage when the track was playing because they didn't want the audience to think that they were actually playing it.
Queen were the first popular band to have such a high level of 'audience participation' as it were. Before nobody used to sing or clap along.
@Nunzi1001 Many reasons why this is considered "the best live performance ever".
There was no sound check. It was timed. They had to perform their set in 20 minutes. Queen played six songs with no mistakes. Freddie was perfection. He hit every note with power, his pitch & projection were perfect and his moves on stage were excellent. Freddie had the crowd in his hands even though this was not a Queen concert.
Watch warning lights at 20:40 near Freddie's feet.
@Nunzi1001 None of the bands were allowed to use backing tracks, so that's why they didn't finish.
As for the best live performance there's an interview with one of the behind the scenes people who said he was furious when he found out the program hadn't reached it's goal in fundraising. While storming to the BBC booth he heard the clapping of Radio GAGA and realized that things were going to be ok.
I was in Philadelhia that day for Live-Aid and I can tell you that Freddie had 96,000 of us absolutely in his hands. I knew even at the age of 15 that this was an unforgettable performance. I was pivileged to have seen it live - even on the screens.
Whenever I question if there is a god when someone as brilliant and loved as Freddie Mercury dies at such a young age, I tell myself, if I were God, I'd steal someone like Freddie for myself too...he's probably been singing up in heaven ever since he arrived.
25 mutes that shook the rock world to it's knees! Freddie and Queen were just getting creative exploring rock mixed up with classical, and orchestra! "just not enough time!"
@ParkerMcgraw , I'm 47 years old and only wish i could see them live again! We were dirt poor when this concert took place at wembly stadium in the UK. I did however see them in Knoxville, TN in 1982, Man am I lucky! "Awesome!"
@khosttel Happy AIDS Day, everyone! May the Lord see fit today to strike down many more faggots with AIDS, His own scouring pad!Praise God for His vengeance! This is precisely God's judgment for coddling fags, divorcees and other assorted sinners.I thank baby Jesus for showing His might and killing gaysexuals with AIDSFags and fornicators hate God. I believe that is why God often smites their children with the AIDSWhen God gives you AIDS, make lemonAIDS
Always seeing a silver lining, this let me finish my Bachelors, take a break for real-world experience, then go back to school a year ago to work towards my Master of Music Theory, which is where I am now.
Thanks Freddie, because of your influence, I'm not making a quarter-mil per year as an anesthesiologist. But I AM enjoying the he!l out of what I do. Wish you were around so I could shake your hand & give you a very honest hug for showing me what I was suppose to do all along.
Early '85, I was more interested in how quickly I could manage to sleep with the newest girl in the neighbourhood, & attending Med-School in a few years, than making music. Then THIS happened.
Late '85, my major of choice switched to something about as far from the medical world as possible ..... Music Theory. And so it happened, minus a 13-year break to carry forward my family history of military service. I got myself shot, disabled, discharged on medical pension.
The British Empire Exhibition....1966 World Cup Win over Germany......Live Aid 1985....Queen In Concert 1986.......Stuff it, it's disappeared into LEGEND..... we'll have to knock it down and build another one....
Freddie is such a maestro - His acknowledgement of Brian and the audience, with those beautifull bows, at the beginning of "Is this the world we created?" is simply superb.
this was the greatest 20 rock show. I can't even remember any other groups that played in this event. QUEEN! that is all i remember. I saw their last tour in the US in 1982 and that was sad they never came back but at least there are videos of these show.
Queen stole the show - the biggest problem was they only had 20 minutes and they had over 150 songs to choose from - how the hell they came up with the set they did was totally amazing and remember they came on before the end of the show to sing another song "is this the world we created" so they did an encore.
i listen to this every day on my phone/on my pc/on my laptop...if i don't listen to this i am cranky all day long...queen was the best band...and will remain in history for all eternity
@sergiumarian93 You're right. Queen were the best band ever - I saw them twice, but Freddy's dead. What do we do now? Keep on listening to his music. YES. He is not dead. His music lives on and we must keep it alive
I used to feel bad about watching this without paying for it - charity and all - but now that I've grown up and I know what a fiddle that these charity shows are, I'm really glad I never bought a copy.
Just watched this vid again, and realised Brian May played 3 different guitars during Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Changed to No. 2 at about 13:55 and again at about 14:14 to his Red Special, I think? You can see him changing from No 2 to his Red Special in the background. Please correct me if I am wrong :)
What I love about Hammer to Fall was when Freddie went to the drummer's podium - and Brian May and John Deacon gathered around him - and Roger playing the drums - seemed to me he was acknowledging that all four members were part of the phenomenon called Queen. Nice :)
@CaroleSNewZealand Another thing about the Hammer to Fall performance. Freddie never did the same thing twice. He had a different move throughout the whole song. He was constantly moving with nothing choreographed.
Watching this NEVER gets old. It's hard to see him in action without getting teary eyed, but this presentation in particular gently reminds me why I choose to go into music and become a singer. RIP Freddie. No one, past present or future has remotely come close to your charm and ability to command a crowd.
Fantastic job by a Fantastic Band! Never again to be repeated in history! Queen were memory makers! This concert started at 6:41 p.m., same time Freddie died in the evening I believe. R.I.P. my Love!
Freddie Mercury- Best song writer, singer, showman, and we must not forget the other Gents wrote songs also! My first song I learned was from my sisters room: Your My Best Friend-By John Deacon, I was 14 now I am 51 and still listen to Queen!!!!!!
Queen made one feel happy and leave all pain and sorrow behind ! Freddie, and the guys knew how too do it Best!!! They Gave it all 100 % all the time!!! Freddie and John we miss YOU soooooo much!!! Queen will NEVER die!!!! Just watch and Keep Listening!!!!
It doesn't matter if he was doing drugs or not, this man and band proved to everyone for 20 minutes, they were the benchmark to live up to. Freddie is one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
@SiniaDiva because of the energy he spread then he must be on cocain?? Great thinking!!! then 78000 people were on cocain too that day because for about 25 minutes they were all ecstatic and enraptured with and through Freddy Mercury...
Maravilhoso, eterno, pefeita voz!! Fico me indagando como pode um gênio tão grande da música ter existido, fabulosooooooooooooooooo!! Eternamente apaixonada!!

It doesn't matter if he was doing drugs or not, this man and band proved to everyone for 20 minutes, they were the benchmark to live up to. Freddie is one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
