Furthermore, the economy will suffer if this is in effect. I want green energy & a clean planet but I don't want the government forcing us as the government is always poorly run and wastes our hard earned money. The change for a sustainable planet has to come from within the people, the only way it will sustain.

But when you argue based on that "I can't afford it" makes for a weak argument because now it seems your opinion is biased on you financial situation. No one can truly "afford" it. What's important is common sense. The tax is based on a fraud. A fraudulent tax is unethical & a government committing fraud on its people should be brought under the law. IMO, that's what we should be campaigning for, not its affordability.

The problem is that if the population was exposed to the science alone, the vast majority would accept the problem. Same with business, if this problem did not mean that they would loose billions, it would never have been debated at all.
So we are in a stituation where 95% of the worlds scientists agree, but only 50% of the people belive. This must be done one way or another, with force if necessary. You don't risk the entire globe just because some people can't connect the dots.

And ask thousand of these scientist to agree at 100% with everything in their rapport. This resulted in everyone watering down the rapport to be safe since none can't say "oh, I'm not sure about that line". Cap and Trade in the Senate now the American Power Act would increase taxes on the average household up to $3200 according to the RNC gas prices increase by $2.58 a gallon according to George C. Marshall Institute. With Obama demanding the cessation of offshore drilling gas prices are expected to increase yet another $5 a gallon, because we would grow dependent upon foreign nations we are not allies with in order to provide our oil. @InquiringMind63 However the major, and I mean major problem, is they happen hundreds of thousands of years apart. The last one was about 10k years ago, so we are not any where near to the next one. However wait a sec, in the last 50 years we speed up the cycle so much, that instead of going up 1 degree Celsius in about 50k years, we went up 1 in less then 50 years. If we go up 2 more, then we will be on the brink of a ice age, if not in one.

The definition offered here of "tax" may be one meaning/connotation, but it's not the relevant one here. A higher cost is not a tax; if it's a disincentive to waste energy, so be it. In America, taxes are, at base, the cost of living in and benefitting from a civil, democratic society. It's like paying dues, and those who no longer want to be dues-paying members of the USA should look for citizenship elsewhere. Good riddance

Well he is right. The "people" will not see their taxes increase one dime under his plan. Companies will have higher taxes and they will past "COST" on to us. So no new taxes, things are just going to "COST" 50-70 % more.

Indeed strangling a nations energy output is a deliberate and specific act of agression. When you force a lower energy output, you reduce the work-per-hour output of the nations machines and the energy people have available for their personal use. They must drive less, they must use appliances less etc. Every one they buy from must raise prices- higher energy price = higher cost. Every single transaction in life needs energy. Obama lusts for suffering, and everyone cheered like he was a hero.

Of course if one was specifically in favour of reducing greehouse gasses, whilst being in favour of American prosperity, one would simply say 'everyone ready build nuclear plants? @av8er152 ive heard that this bill or immagration will be top priority after their break. also just so you know, smart grid technology is a big factor in this bill. its says in the bill that the utility company can control your electrical use during peak hours upon an agreement with you or a thrid party. also the roof on your house will have to meet energy efficency guidlines.
