@panoulis1986 come on man....its just my opinion...and of course i didn't offence deep purple!!!!....i just think that this is better than the original.....
@hsmetalhead They both have wonderful voices. Opeth did a wonderful cover, yes... But Deep Purple is the original, and this song would not be without Deep Purple. I respect all of Opeth's covers, but still love the originals, and I have worshiped Opeth since I was 12. :P
@hsmetalhead Listen to Black Sabbath's Born Again. I used to be a huge Opeth fan, but I changed my mind when I listenned to this kind of stuff. Besides, no cover aims to be "better than the original". (Well, I discovered Purple's version before this one, and I prefer Gillan's.)
@ohestevold "Don't throw perls to the pigs" ... 10k ppl in this world have a good sense of what is good music, the 400 milions that saw bieber's video have brain damage.
@ohestevold I'll tell you about the world: The consuming masses are like a herd, just keep to one and the rest will follow. Do not think on their own, only a collective mind unabashedly ignorant. The only thing that matters to these people is to show how cool they are, but the truth, which in my eyes, they are nothing.
And sorry if my english is wrong, but isn't my native lenguage
@ohestevold Metalheads prefer to buy albums and vinyl than listen to the songs via youtube. A couple days ago I read a comment like this mine, I think I agree with that xD
@keithblabbermouth Late 80s/90s death metal (see stated influences in Bloodbath interviews) and 70s progrock (the opening to melody in 'The Drapery Falls' is more-or-less lifted from 'Court of the Crimson King' by King Crimson). Mikael's a Tool fan, and sometimes I hear a bit of their influence in his heavier stuff as well.
@meshzzizk oh thanks for the explanation! For years I believed the devil him self wrote the notes for Opeth' heavy music =). No, seriously: I didn't knew where the influences came from

@hsmetalhead The originalversion is on the Stormbringer-Album on which David Coverdale
replaced Ian Gillan who has left Deep Purple after the Fireball-Album
57drmusic 3 months ago
@57drmusic After Fireball album?... after Who do we think we are... and Stormbringer is the second album of Deep Purple with Coverdale.

@hsmetalhead David Coverdale sings the original version! and I agree! opeth's version is much better

@hsmetalhead Mikael has no equal, that's why, with all due respect to the awesomeness of Deep Purple of course.

Great playing though nothing can beat the original with Coverdale on the vocals, even Gillan doesn't have so much soul in his voice as Coverdale...

More precisely: First notes in "Benighted" by Opeth are quite exactly the beginning of Camel's "Never let go".
