@billt0626 The stocking level looks fine to me, theyre smaller fish so they dont produce much waste and as long as hes on top of those water changes he can get away with it. I know because Im in the same situation
i just got a 28 gallon, i was thinking a coupleplants and some cool dragon statuettes. along with a cave and hiding spots for a peacock eel. but would semi-aggresives, (like eel or catfish/bala sharks) eat loaches or snails?
interestingly, Snails eat algae off of plants, and the side of the tank. They eat dead leaves but not healthy ones. Why would you not want snails in the tank?
The plants use up what the fish put out. I don't know why there are comments that there are too many fish. I'd rather have more fish than supplement with CO2. I think it looks fantastic. What's the plant to the right of the larger plant right in the middle? It's lighter colored and small leaved it looks like.
I have been making and creating planted aquariums for years, like 22 now, and something about this does not look right. First, why only a wide shot, why not close ups. Secondly, way to many fish. Way to many, you would have to water changes every few days, which would unbalance the tank. You can not keep that many fish long term in a planted tank. Lastly, the "gravel" looks just like gravel. It is too thin and too coarse. That tanks looks impossible.
Thanks...I guess?.? I assure you the aquarium is legit and I'd like to elaborate: the gravel is three layers: Seachem Flourite, Caribsea Torpedo Beach and Peace River gravel to accommodate all root structures. Too many fish? NO WAY. Sorry, but they continue to thrive over a year later. Frequent water changes? You bet- but we use over a dozen supplements to keep the nutrient levels up for the plants. Its a work of art- one of our best. Its on our website too if you want more photos:)
Can't beleive there are comments below from peple who are clueless when it comes to planted tanks. "light getting to the bottom", "plastic", my goodness, if they managed to do it themselves they would know what they're talking about..
Just like houseplants there are low light and high light requirement plants. The lower level plants are of the low light variety. They would do poorly if exposed to too much light.
FYI xBenawesomex- We DID design it and this is OUR video. Not everyone is proficient with planted aquariums so why wouldn't your hire someone to help you create a beautiful one if you were lacking the skills....?? Having a bad day?
Sorry I was mistaken when you said it was designed by somone at a certain site, you never said anything about it was designed by us at blah blah blah.
I wasn't good at aquascaping when I first started, but I learned and so should everyone else, what is so fun having an aquarium that you didn't design.
i agree- the aquarium means much more when you put your own effort into the project. this is the reason we enjoy displaying them to the public so much! thanks for the comments.
nope. not the ultimate.

Wait, I take it back. I just saw it was 130 gallon. The fish population looks fine to me.
tmaxxman33 2 years ago
I think that tank is great! You might have a few too many fish IF you don't have strong filtration. But if you do than this tank is perfect.

I stand corrected, after viewing a better still image, the tank is real. But there is still way too many fish for it to be long term feasible.

how u keep your plants alive? i bought some and they died and turned different colors. any tip?
sw3etxhuney 3 years ago
If it's a freshwater tank, try investing in shrimps, they clean the leaves.
Often leaves losing colour is due to lack of nutrients in the tank aswell. How often do you change water?

Is there a rule to how many fish you have when trying to plant a tank?
ollieflp 3 years ago
3 inches of fish (mouth to tail) per square foot of surface area is a generous formula to follow.
