Britax isn't the be all and end all of car seats, nor are they necessarily any safer. This is a safe seat, it has a 5 point harness. The crappy part is that it only has, really, a 5 lb window of use. Most kids need to rear face until 35 lbs to be safest, and most kids need 5 point harness seats until 5 or 6 years old when they are able to sit correctly in a booster. Therefore this seat as a 5 lb window of usability (it's a crappy booster, and most kids outgrow before they are booster ready).
I can't beleive you would say that MOST kids need to rear face until 35lbs to be safest. My 3 year old isn't even 30lbs yet and it would be much more dangerous for her if she was rear facing! Both her legs would surely be broken in an accident! Not to mention, she would have to sit cross legged in order to fit. I agree that younger children should remain rear facing, but I don't think anyone beyond 2yrs should be.
Would you rather have broken legs or a broken neck? Rear facing protects the spine and head from things like brain injury and internal decapitation. In Sweden they routinely rear face until 4 to 6 years old. The data states there is a 400-500% increase in safety rear facing, depending on the child's age. And there is no evidence that legs are more at risk rear facing- but, as I said, I'd prefer broken legs over a broken neck. Google "Joel's Story" and "Extended Rear Facing" for more info.
Oh, and you have to google "Joel's Story Extended Rear Facing". If you search extended rear facing on youtube you'll find other videos which show the difference in how the child's body responded rear facing vs forward facing.
I have to agree with others...Britax is not the god of all car seats. They cost a hell of a lot but that doesnt mean they are the best car seat. The BEST car seat is the one that fits to your child and the vehicle the best.
That's either the top tether or the LATCH strap hanging off the back. You don't thread that through the seatbelt at all. The top tether goes to the top anchor either on the floor in an SUV, on the ceiling, behind the backseat, or on the back filler panel. The LATCH strap goes to the lower anchors if your car is so equipped. You can use the top tether with the seatbelt (highly encouraged), you MUST use the top tether when using LATCH.
put the latch strap through the seat belt?? id love to hear where you read that!
i suggest doing some research on car seats before posting a review again
