We have been seeing a consolidation of large companies for years now. Was there a law passed that allowed this? I remember thinking this when watching the banks gobble each other up we will have fewer and fewer options for banking until we have only one. Felt like part of a plan to consolidate. Every sector has had similar consolidation. It sure fits into the Socialist or fascist model. Any thoughts?

you can't attack walmart for being more efficient that the inefficient mom and pap stores. This means that those stores are not the best at their business so they must look for things that they are simply better at than walmart.... be it fighting walmart with better quality products

I understand what you are saying, entirely. The problem is when wealth becomes concentrated into fewer and fewer hands. Sure, you may have a more efficient business model and you may have more convenience for shoppers, but you also then subjugate the population through lower wages, poor living conditions and despair. I do not think that is an even trade. Whenever something becomes centralized, it creates these problems. By having a big-box store, trade becomes centralized.

I've seen in my local community and when I talk to convenience store clerks and the small town community people I see them losing money and closing up.

It's their business model that's giving back with lower prices... that's why people like it so much, otherwise Walmart wouldn't exist. And it's the lowest income earners that benefit the most from lower prices. That benefit is simply not concentrated in one area so it's hard to see.

As for the community cost... like I said, walmart is better at what they do, they deliver the products more efficiently, and that means with less resource usage (less time, less effort, less energy - same results) Community benefits aswell because now they can use their time to do other things

here's extreme example. If I was God, and I effortlessly create food for all from thin air, all farmers would lose their jobs.. is that bad? no, people would have food, and farmers can now do other stuf
