I agree with my 'western' friends that it looks shambolic. I myself live in New York. But tell me something, which country in the world offers travel at such a cheap price in order to cater to every strata of society? This is truly something remarkable in India which people in the west never understand. You can go by an Air Conditioned train from Mumbai to Delhi (700 miles) for $60. Cant dream of this rail service anywhere in the world. Indian Railways is honestly the best in the world

Fast? :-) You get on train every day , say: @7 AM and reach office at 10:30 and then back on 6PM and reach home at 8:00 PM . So much of time is lost in travel. Mumbai quality of life in terms of transit infrastructure really sucks.Its even worst then treatment of animals.

Only recently[since last 5-10 years] has this pressure lifted that most of high tech. co. were created in cities like Bangalore,Hyderabad .But Mumbai people feel proud of this state and say :"Mumbai life is fast""Mumbai is every time moving" etc blah blah. WTF.

It does move 24 hours, I could eat at restaurants, make instant plans to anywhere. And do anything anytime unlike develpoed countries where all restaurants, shops and even malls close at 8..sometimes even 6..As far as Mumbai goes, it is Mumbai n bollywood that people know worldwide. Mumbai is not the best,but yes in a way it is going to become. Ask yourself a question-Which other City in d World has richest and the poorest? And which city has real estate like Mumbai's? NY? London?Check ur stats

Various factors for this state of affairs:

There was no proper planning initially all industries were promoted in metros like Mumbai which caused too much pressure on infrastructure [which was never updated to suite to increasing needs].
