  • BRAZIL, INDIA AND CHINA ARE GOING TO BE THE MOST POWERFULL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD BRAZIL WILL RULE

  • We Brazilians don't want to be the richest people in the world. We want to protect him, not only about the pollution, but also of the aggressive capitalism. And of course, we want to improve our position in national income distribution ... And the situation of violence has been much improved between the years of 2009 to 2011.

  • how can you have 1.2 cars?? Do you own a car and a stirring wheel?

  • well sorry ,the name or our country is AMERICA!

BRAZIL IS UNITED STATES OF BRAZIL

WE ARE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA end of discussion!

  • @MrDANIELDMARTINRIOS You're wrong. Brazil is not "United States of Brazil" (it was in the first republic, today we are in our sixth republic). We are Federative Republic of Brazil.

  • years from now America will be an amoeba Brazil is the future to Criss in Brazil was a joke because Brazil has criss equally on a log to spend the torero

  • that*

  • The only problem of Brasil is the politicians and the stupid people who vote on them. I know tha because I live in Brasil. Come visit us sometime :D

  • What a bunch of bullshitt. Nobody cares if the USA is in need of gas. Brazil needs to do what's best for Brazil.

  • Top 7...down....Bric`s Up

  • What about the sucking the planet blood after all? Do you thing the planet it will be sick?

  • Big dea!!!l Brazil is getting investiment from Asia, now instead US. we going kiss Asians ASSes. HOW ABOUT Brasilians politician stop stealing money and start invest in Brazil

  • what mean "eat that america"??? we are americans too...

  • country, taking away all the money from OUR COMMODITIES, Produced in OUR LAND. Wasting such a LIVE LAND, Paying so low to it´s workers in a slavery manner, Not producing FOOD To those who don´t Have a MEAN to achieve such a "SHOULbE" guarantee, alimentation. It´s WRONG and I´m TIRED of this SICK SHIT

  • It's interesting as a Brazilian to see there are still people looking at large stuff going on and foreign investment as "invasion". It is true this country's history is of extreme abuse by Portugal and later Europe and the US, but we're over this and there are laws and rules and the problems inherited from centuries of exploration to be resolved, including foreign companies acting out of law. But overall, this comment is over reaction and what the lady says is correct.

  • my environment. Our lands are desertifying in a never ever seen scale. Our forests have been obliterated. and in the past 20 years, with the advance of sugarcane to the amazon, pantanal and cerrado, we are missing a very wide and important biodiversity, that will never be replaced from any "Big Investment" from the First world Country - The industrialized and new civilizators. It´s time for not persist on the biggest mistakes ever taken. The biggest lies ever told. Open your mind, eyes & heart.

  • @curyf We should look to globalization on a new optic lens. I believe that once you start looking clearly at the concept of development,it's not what we are doing. we are growing econamically, not developing. Land use in a country like brazil, with all it's capabilities cannot be only an economic factor. Other thing, we gotta have a real renewable energy policy, which is not that coming from burning life potential. That is indeed one more of the lies that surrounds us and the sons of Uncle Sam.

  • Hello guys, I´m sorry but I´m also from brazil and I´ll tell u that every single word this lady said is a LIE. U guys don´t know what it feels to be from a coutry-continent in the size of Brazil, with all this natural resources, with a possibility of production of biomass in a higher scale than ever seen in any other country in the world. And yet, all we see in brazilian lands, because of this always faking media. is a HUGE SUGAR CANE CROP land, used by a corporation of any other

  • Good to see some people in the U.S. still have brains and hearts.

Thank you Lou Ann Hammond. You are absolutely right in your analysis.

  • enquanto os EUA não aprenderem a utilizar o alcool da cana eles vão ficar nessa briga pelo petróleo, alcool its cool, the veicles run more fast, more cheap then oil end renovable by nature.

  • Im Brazilian and I totaly agree with her, great lady. [2]

  • Im Brazilian and I totaly agree with her, great lady.

  • This notion that North Americans have that they ARE America bothers me sometimes.

In Brazil they have the notion that they are South Americans why US has to take ownership for the whole thing.

Anyways, US was a great country but Bush really fucked them big time and made enemies all over the world.

It's about time for other nations rise and make alliances.

    Go BRIC!

  • One interesting thing I heard she say: she corrected herself after saying "America" and said "North America", remembering that Brazil, and many other countries, also lie in the American continent.

Then she questions the fact that we intend to sell our goods to the Orient instead of the USA. And she knows the answer to that question as well. The Chinese, Japanese, Coreans, Phillipines, Indonesians, Malayans, etc show a lot more interest in our country than the US does. It's not just money.

  • We feel a lot more interest coming from the Orient and sometimes Europe than from our North American neighbors. Some months ago I was doing business with a chinese woman and she made a POINT on speaking Portuguese with me! Most North Americans think we speak Spanish... The Orient shows some interest in helping us out with our social problems, which I don't see coming from the USA, China's investment in Brazil is huge. This is really flattering!

  • And this is not to be read as nasty criticism, more like a tip: North Americans usually show no interest for the rest of the world. This is not a good attitude, because you never know when you might need someone... Instead of just exploiting other countries and showing no interest for their welfare, why not change this and recognize we inhabit the same planet? And profit/money is not the ONLY value? This would change the US image all around the world, not just with Brazil.

  • She definitely knows what she's saying!!!

    God Bless you all!

  • brazil is changing the world.eat that america

  • @strolofobetico maybe you want to say "eat that north america"??? since brasilians are americans too...

  • @AlexKamakura I do like Canadians and Mexicans, they are "north americans" too. The correct would be "Eat that US".

But I don't hate US, I think that we are now able to do business in equality of therms(going in this direction, we aren't that important yet), US has serious worries about Brazilian diplomacy, have changed some times the ambassador of US in Brazil because our strategy is very different from the strategy we had 16 years ago, in which we were a US Yard.

  • @AlexKamakura now we want to be respected as a strong regional power, and we are trying to represent our regional needs in ONU. We have much more to do, we still have poverty, problems in our educational system, but from now on we gonna be even better, rich, educated, scientific and structured, such as a developed country. At least I hope, truly Hope.

  • Why Asia?

Because Brazil is just about done creating a continental highway cutting through the Amazon, and into Peru.

While the Fuel is nice, what they really want to do is get their Soybeans, Chicken, Coffee, Chocolate, and Beef.

    _

Also PLEASE, we're only talking about 336 billion gallons of oil.

    greyfalcon. net/ brazil3

Thats about as much liquid fuel as America consumes in 2 years.

I wouldn't get all euphoric about that little.

  • There you are mr. eletric gadget... the only american genius facing his battle against all american scientists...

And yes. Brazil is about to create this highway just because americans and europeans simply turned their backs to south america.. and then they decided to sell to those who want to buy and invest.

  • Actually, Electric is just one solution.

In general what it all boils down to is that we need energy efficiency.

We can't continue to ignore the second law of thermodynamics.

  • The main issue is how we could obtain energy without warming the atmosphere dude. Simple. Not what kind of engine should run the cars. Again, eletric cars have to have their batteries recharged. Then the question remains: how would you obtain this energy without warming the planet? A huge amount of eletric energy in the US is obtained from coal. Checkmate.

  • And thats where the second law of thermodynamics comes into play.

Coal is roughly 2x worse than Petroleum in GHG emissions.

But an electric engine is roughly 4x more efficient than a gasoline engine.

So even if you ran the can on coal it would be like driving a hybrid in emissions.

    greyfalcon. net/ plugins3

And we got plenty of energy to be had.

    greyfalcon. net/ plugins4

It gets even better as the car gets older, since the grid gets greener.

    greyfalcon. net/ greenenergy.png

  • wrong. Lets talk about efficiency when trasnsforming the energy stored inside the coal into electricity. Are you sure about the advantage regarding the second law? In this case its the same poor efficiency the internal combustion engines have. The main problem remains. Just give up dude.

  • As I mentioned previously, the efficiency of the electric engine makes all the difference.

With regenerative braking, we're talking 90% efficiency.

As compared to a 15-20% efficient otto combustion engine.

  • Again, not talking about the car's engine. Doesnt matter if its eletric or not. The energy required to charge the batteries must come from any kind of source. And we know it comes from thermal power plants and the problem remains unsolved. Same problem related to efficiency and green house gases. Tell us how many megawatts were talking about when replacing only 40% of regular cars in the US?

  • Well, according to this study, 84% of the US car fleet could be replaced without building even 1 new power plant.

    greyfalcon. net/ plugins4

Additional fuel, obviously, but no additional infrastructure.

  • Not really. Check perhaps, until you realise that the size of a double garage roof covered in solar cells can produce enough electrical power to charge your electric car.

    Woof

  • Without numbers your statement is a factoid. If it was true, electric cars would be ruling the world. Specially in the US.

  • Why? Do you really think the best technologies are available to us in the face of vested interests. Have a look at "Who Killed the Electric Car"and see if you think the word factoid applies to the above

    Woof

  • For example, the best technology avaiable provides electric cars that run only 160 Km before the battery goes out. And it takes 7 hours to recharge it (if you chose to use regular electric energy)!!!!! As for solar cells, what if you face clouded skies? Think about nordic countries, Japan, Canada, China or England...

Without mentioning the fact that electric cars are ridiculously expansive.

As far as I know electric cars are just an useless gadget.

  • Come on, even 10 year old battery tech gave e cars 200 km. Please don't think lead acid! All modern solar cells pull energy from light, not necessarily direct sunlight, if you can see they can draw power, not at max performance of course but , for instance, Germany is now a major installer of solar power, not to mention China. Electric cars cost the same as petrol cars but the servicing is almost negligible.

    Woof

  • @greyflcn wrong, a massive oil deposit was discovered in BRAZIL in 2008 ,

Brazil is holding now the worlds second large oil deposit , plus the ETHANOL I THINK THEY ARE MAKING WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION NOW #LOL

  • @HIDDENTECH2 hmm..Was a joke? Probably We gonna explore the oil to exportation not to our consumption. Acctually this video don't even talk about eolic Energy and Hidro Energy, Brazil has a huge variety of energy sources despite ethanol and oil.

ps2: Reserves are big and reachable, but the one discovered in Venezuela's ocean is even bigger. the point is not the "size" is "how do we can take the oil" and environmental issues.

  • @RaruphoElfei yes was a joke #LOL

  • ==Thats not a false statement.==

Lol. That was a dumb typo :P

    Lets skip the "not".

  • ==as they've built their entire economy on home-grown ethanol==

    Thats not a false statement.

Brazil gets almost all their fuel from petroleum.

What we need to "learn" from Brazil is how they get by consuming 7x less liquid fuel per capita than Americans.
