And line does not matter if there's little to know weeds but if you are using a baitcaster get 50 lb braid or 65 because when casting that frog you can cast just as well as if you were using 10 lb mono
I prefer live target frogs but when using and frog you should remember that the fish is thinking I could eat 10 worms or minnow and have to work for it or eat a frog that is SLOWLY passing over me. I don't really know exactly how many worms or minnows equal a frog but more then 20 I would say so think about learning how to walk the frog all you have to do is twitch your rod tip just under your waist
i bought 2 of these frogs but didnt know how to properly use them so i just left them in my taclebox tell i was watchin som tips on how to walk the dog, so i started trying it & i got a few hits, but i was using regular line until i purchased a casting reel with a 6f 6in frog rod from bassproshop, they told m braid is the best..... these frogs are good i like them & will always keep a few in my taclebox.....
its easier to walk this bait if you trim the legs back a quarter inch and cut off some of the strands so that you only have 10-15 strands. that increases the action, and when the bait stops, the legs flare better. i even like to paint or dye the inside of the strands of red, to add extra "i'm injured" attraction.
its much better to walk the bait....must use braid!!!!....in open areas between lily pads or other cover pause for a second and continue...i like to give a 3 twitch and pause retrieve
I can only say 1 thing... Used every-where,,, over cast,,, raining,,, sunset... It is too light...Not good for long cast,,,, Not all the color will work Never got a bite a on it
Except for this only ONE TIME!!! I landed a 5 pounder!!!!
I doubt half the people who commented on the spro frog have ever even fished it.
any one who fished them and still said something bad to say was probably using the wrong kinda line. these frogs wont work right with mono or florocarbon because they sink!
spectra floats. I use 50 lb power pro braid when I throw the frog.
@philly442 It is a terrible frog. And the "legs" are way too long, I cut then shorter. I have nothing good to say about this frog or this retrieval style.

In all fairness I do believe he's retrieving this lure through an aquarium -limited room. I wouldn't compare the Stanley Ribbit to this bait, because the retrieves are quite different. I keep two froggn' set-ups on my deck. Both Shimano Curado 200 E's and Powell Frog rods. I throw the Ribbit initially, and if I don't hook up on a strike, I'll immediately throw a Spro back in that spot and use a slower, methodical retrieve. I trim the legs aswell on my Spros, bout 1". Works best for me.
not sure he is retrieving this bait..but my spro frgos have all kinds of action. i cut the legs down about 3/4 inch this allows me to walk it or blast it across the water. spro frogs rock
Actually, i used this this summer, and sometimes the walking motion didn't work. Sometimes, i needed to yank it as hard as i could and work it really fast, and i would have fish exploding on it, swallowing the lure nearly every hit. One thing i will tell you is, that if you fish a lake with a lot of northern, DO NOT spend your money on this lure. Buy the cheaper ones. It wasn't worth the 8 dollars just to catch 5 northern on it and tear it all up.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I hate these frogs, Stanley ribbit frogs 1000% better, I stoped using these they look so fake, And the fish notice
Graphicspittz187 2 years ago
I would definitely trim those leg things. Is it just because he's got a 4 year old doing the retrieve, or do the legs always look so lifeless?
heartlesspinto 2 years ago
yup walkin the dog gives you a 10 times better retrive
