@lilceaz215 I'm really not sure how old the lizard is as it a wild one. He just comes up and grabs a free snack from time to time. I was just out the front feeding 4 different ones at lunchtime. It's the start of summer in Australia and they are starting to get very active. One looks pregnant, one ripped it's jaw open in a fight and the other ones was hanging out in the bird bath, and the other one was running around like a maniac, it's all happening haha.
sultanas haha lol, but the wildness and variety in food explains the colours...did a great job on taming it then...looks verry calm and relaxt around you...
@dockwerker The options on 'YouTube' are very limited due to copy right laws. Most of the songs are really bad. I chose this one as it sounded better than the other options i was given but you are right allot of people pick this song. I might give something different a go, Thanks for the feedback.
@THEDROPPEDSOCK haha your welcome;) and yeah i know its horrible mine is crap either but i chose it just becouse its different...how old is your dragon?? it looks verry healthy and its colours are clearer then any dragon i've seen really beautifull...
@dockwerker This Dragon is wild, I have tamed it up by feeding it a variety of foods. It seems to eat almost anything. It really likes grapes small pieces of cooked chicken sultanas and bananas. The more variety they get the more minerals and nutrients they will get. This will give them nice colours. Unfortunately i am not sure how old he is but he seems quite young as he is very active. Thanks mate !
I think the poor thing was scared of the camera... notice it's breathing gets heavier when you brought the camera closer to it and it wouldn't eat all that close to the camera
@ChillYoshimitsu You're right, they don't seem to like the camera much. Although i must say this one has gotten very used to it and it actually climbs on the camera now.
@ChillYoshimitsu I just started to feed him when i was outside. I gradually threw the food closer and closer until he started taking the food from my hand. Then one day he just jumped up on to me. He is very tame. He runs up to the door and scratches on it to get my attention so i can feed him. Thanks
@THEDROPPEDSOCK ah. I can get my mountain horned dragon to eat out of my hand, but she kinda freaks out in front of a camera. Like seriously she exposes her dewlap and hisses a little.
@ChillYoshimitsu LOL, i just checked out your lizard as i haven't seen one before. They're awesome, they look like mini dinosaurs. I had no idea what a dewlap was so i had to check it out, now i know. Thanks.
Hi TDS, we've been feeding some in our backyard near the GoldCoast for a week or two and they're just great. We knew they were sociable but not lap friendly. The big male, about a metre long, is braver with me than I am with him! Your 'taming' advice is the best I've seen in perhaps 20 'educational' websites.
It's a pleasure 'pneugass' I'm glad the advice paid off. You'll have to post a vid in the future of the 1 metre lizard. Mabe name it 'Godzilla', it sounds like a bit of a beast.
Hey champ nice healthy looking female eastern water dragon there mate. Are they all wild or do you have some captive breed ones? I just purchased three in NSW and am hoping to tame them up so that they can have free run of the house and be handled!
@leighandhazel Thanks, They're all wild. Very tame though. Just today i was eating chicken and rice in a bowl and one jumped up on the sunlounge and ran straight up to the bowl. It gave me a bit of a shock actually lol. You wont have any trouble taming them up, just be patient at first and let them decide when they want to eat etc. They're pretty cool little things, they all have personalities as you will find out.
Hey bro sick dragon got a quik question im thinking of getting one soon but wondering how did you tame it or how was it tamed thanks bud keep up the sick vids
Thanks JonoELoco. To tame a lizard you just need to throw it some food and then gradually throw the food closer and closer to where you are standing. If it reaches a point where it is scared to come closer then step back and let it eat it. After a short while it will view you as a food source rather than a predator. Then just kneel down and start feeding it by hand. You must be patient with them though they can be very timid at first.
@THEDROPPEDSOCK nar mate i wasnt kidding.. ive had him 24 odd hrs now and he's just awesome. he's my first reptile and im getting a water python on mon just had to wait for my licence. i also have 24 tarantulas, 8 scorpions and 1 centipede. yea mate ill get some vids up soon.... =)
is that a boy or girl? and i'm thinking about getting one. are their other lizards other then a chinese water dragon that i would like or should i get this one?
Hi Robbydrums14 in answer to your question, this is a boy. If you look on top of it's head you can see spikes like a mohawk running down the back of it's head. The female Eastern waterdragons don't have these spikes. As for which type of Dragon to choose, unfortunately it all comes down to personal preference. I would look for one thats got plenty of energy and healthy colouration. Thanks.
oh wow he is gorgeous..i have two..just discovered there both males = S there bout 2 YOA..they love banana n mango,i'll try grapes..how old is this one?very cute..cant wait wil mine r big enough to let em roam around
I'm not sure how old he is! He's a wild dragon. I will have to do another video of some of the other water dragons. Some of them are allot bigger than this one. I fed a dragon mandarine about an hour ago and he seemed to like that as well. Thanks.
IT should do, all the lizards around my place eat grapes! Mabe it hasn't discovered them yet. Eat a bunch of them while hes watching and then feed a very small piece to it!
Damn, I just bought a kg of lychees, found a dragon in my yard and together we ate them all in about 10 mins! Wasn't keen to hand feed it as it was the first time I'd approached that particular one. Are they likely to bite?
Thanks Hollywoodtomato, We have a lake out the front with heaps of these lizards sitting around it. They occupy all the rocks and bask in the sun. This one lives in a small tree, at night he climbs about 2 feet up the tree and just sits there and relaxes after a hard day at the office, lol.
@THEDROPPEDSOCK: It's funny you mention "after a hard day at the office" because as lights-out time approaches, you can clearly see the look of fatigue in my dragon. It's extremely exaggerated considering his life is very low-pressure! :-D I really appreciate how bold and sure Eastern WDs are. Are all of the wild ones you know like that, or do you just have a way with them?
Hollywoodtomato, I find that they all exhibit different traits, as do humans. Some are lazy, some are outgoing and others are just plain mad. Jaws is my favourite lizard as he has a great character about him.
Very healthy/happy looking! I'm planing on getting myself a Iguana don't know what type yet. But all I know is I LOVE reptiles. This is probably my second most favorite type of reptile!
LOL, yeaugh he's spoilt rotten, Jaws is wild but he's a regular visitor when were outside eating. He waits at the sliding window and hangs off the flyscreen, thats how we know he's hungry. We have 3 regular visitors but there are many more running around. All the best with getting an Iguana, they're an amazing reptile. Just spoil it rotten and then you will deserve to own it. Thanks
Wow, yours is awesome. What a beauty. I would give it a small amount just to see whether it eats it. From my experience they wont eat everything you throw at them. I tried to give this one mango and it nudged it and did a small taste test and then refused to eat it. Jaws eats grapes, raisins, banana, apple and many other sweet fruits.
This video is awsome lol i love your dragon it looks amazing
