This a kind of new thing in metal which is a mixture of black and something way more modern, one of the bands like Polish Crionics for example. When it comes to black metal - almost any divergence from it's essence is automatically putting the band out of the genre.

Hey guys...I've been trying to get into black metal lately , but my general problem is, so many bands just don't write anything interesting. It seems like they just blow through the same riff 5 minutes at a time over nonstop blasting, and all it does is go in one ear and out the other. So far it seems that only Naglfar and Emperor are the only exceptions I have heard...does anyone else have any reccomendations for me?

@H2Zman Try Dissection, The other two previous Naglfar albums, Old Gorgoroth, old Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Dawn, Vinterland, Sacramentum, Old Bathory, Darkthrone, Drudkh, Mayhem, and old Nargaroth. That should hold you over for a while and then you just gotta dig deeper for more. Enjoy!!

This sounds like pretty straight forward swedish black metal to me.. I admit there are some differences from the more "true" swedish black metal bands(Like DF) such as a greater emphasis on melody.. But they're not significant enough to be considered "fake black metal." I do wish they remained in the Vittra style, that's possibly the best melodic black metal album I've ever heard. The atmosphere, lyrics and melodies are just perfect.
