its nice to see guys paying attention to audio... too many guys are video card crazy and neglect the audio both in games and listening to music...

im using a soundblaster x-fi with some creative a20,s ... not the best audio set up however im looking at replacing the x-fi for a asus soundcard,,, probally the low end model (ds ) ..... i could hear the difference even with no mic... its like abbey road in a bedroom... awesome well done dude !

Hey well done. It's amazing how many gamers go for an expensive sound card yes still have the crappy logitec type speakers. Those monitors would be 1000 times the quality of the typical computer branded stuff. Gamers have never heard JBL, Bose, Wharfedale type of product but spend just as much on the sh*tty PC brands. Get a good strong amp, good monitors and a good sound card and you will never have to upgrade again.

I've got a used one VERY cheap, i think it was 135 dollars? But it's not the deluxe.

I'm gonna use it with my home cinema set (HT-C5530). I really hope i can hear the differents, cause i use now videocard sound through hdmi and it doesn't sound any different from my old x-fi bravura soundcard.

I was going to ask you if this card can take HD Audio codecs such as Dolby TueHD and DTS HD-MA and output them as LPCM 8 Channel HD Audio over HDMI, but then I heard you refer to 44khz as 'Studio Quality'

Do you have a problem with the audio quality if the volume is turned up to 100 % in the software itself? I got the Xonar D2 and I got the problem. I use 70 % of the volume because if it is at 100 % the quality of the music gets down.

i don't think it's a good investment... I believe that the radeon 5000 series would already be able to bitstream dolby true hd and dts hd ma... so believe a mid-end creative sound card and a radeon 5870 would do it for me....

@neutralgrounds07 but thats wether you want to connect it to a receiver, if u have a crap receiver, then tis better to use the analog connections of this card.

if u have a relaly gd receiver, then getting a cheap ati 5 series card would be a good investment, however like wizard here, he uses monitors connected directly to teh card, HDMI will not be an option... (unless of course he connected the monitors to a receiver)

Man mine is stupid, it won't let me select 60 hz, when I force 60 hz for desktop it works, but soon as I launch a game it refuses to allow 60 HZ. This has driven me insane since launch. Bought a slim version last night this better solve the problems.

That bass is perfect! I had an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude and it is a great card but let down by the Creative chipset.

I have to get rid of it because it is interfering (high DPC Latency) with my HD5870s and causing LOUD POPS and Crackles.

When you switch on the computer and the pc is entering into the windows, the audio card makes some kind of noise?

I have the Xonar hdav 1.3 and I don't know if is normal. In my case the noise appears when the computer is entering into the windows, when I switch between the speakers and headphones line and before the computer shuts down. Is this normal?

hey there, whats the difference between the Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 & Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe? Also i have a hd 4680 video card with hdmi, how do i connect both the video card and the Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe to my receiver? does the video hdmi run into the Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe then another hdmi out to the receiver? like a passthrough method??? Sorry if its a simple question, but you seem to be pretty switched on with this stuff! thank you

no, this card has an hdmi in and out so it can decode dts-hd and dolby true-hd audio, the auzentech cannot

Its much better, however only way you will be able to tell a difference if you have really good speakers or connected to your HT .. I hope this helps !
