A better way to describe Kinski in real life is certifiably insane. Unpleasant doesn't quite cover it. During the filming of Aguirre alone, he shot a finger off of an extra, drove the sound guy off the set permanently, assaulted several of his coworkers, and repeatedly threatened to kill Herzog and then himself. He was committed to a mental institution at least once, where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
at :21 the monkey actually shits on Kinski. That's irony you can cut with a knife...He can't reign over the Indians (his men all killed) and now cannot even be a magistrate of the monkeys (shit being the monkey's own retaliation. Kinski says"Who else is with me?" No one.
@Idontlikereligion He was a good actor. but i'm not sure about great. He was just about as unpleasant as this in real life apparently, so he was pretty much just playing himself.
