@altier11 If you live in Oakland, there is a place called Laney College. They have ruan classes on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 A.M., or Thursday nights from 6 to 8 P.M.

The tuning peg system on the ruan looks so nice in comparison to pipa, with my pipa it goes out of tune every time you put it down and the tuning pegs keep falling out when you are tuning and they are so sensitive that I have broken two high A strings just by trying to tune it. Why can't I have tuners like that on my pipa.

@tansungwah I just got a ruan recently. How does a large person overcome the size difference and holding it properly. I hate to say it, but it seems as though it was made for people much smaller than me. My hands are small so I can still play it well. The length of my arms and torso is what leaves my wrists hurting after awhile. I need to find a way to raise it up on my lap or perhaps strap it to the front my my chest, .. lol. Any suggestions? BTW, those instruments eason offers sound nice.

@tansungwah Yeah, I'll put it on my to do list. In the meantime im six foot and three inches tall and weigh around 270 if that helps give you an idea of what its like for me to play this instrument. To make it worse, I think I'm playing a Xiao Ruan haha. I love the eastern plucked stringed instruments though, all of them. I'd like all three ruans, a pipa and liuqin, a guquin, ect. ect. Friends think I'm crazy but when I hear these instruments they sound as good as the music we were raised on.
