  • why that diffuse thing glows black to me ? any way around it ? thanks

  • bad skin tone and over done filters...

  • not quite accurate vs the true job that often as to be done in that domain but quite similar

  • nice!! learned from that!! and quick..!! ^^ hhahahaha

    post more tutorials!!

  • i still need help its not workn i think my level is off

  • @anniesphoto What did you set your levels to? You may have to play with it a bit to get it just right, depending on how dark or light your photo is.

  • bless you =)

  • @DJCeeJay =D

  • Well done and simply beautiful work!

  • I should be doing more starting up pretty soon here, keep your eyes on this channel!

  • cool, nice vid

  • Thanks, glad you liked it!

  • cool

  • Thanks bunches =D

  • I learnt some new stuff from it, Thanks :D

But it was kind of bright that's all...

  • It could depend on the image you start with - if you go into Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation for the base layer, you can play with the brightness a little by adjusting "Lightness".

    Hope that helps! XD

  • Was this step (adjustments) suppose to take place before or after the tutorial? I followed your steps in the tutorial and mine came out bright as well. I didnt read this response until AFTER I watched and followed the tutorial. Please advise

  • Sorry for the mix up. If your image is coming out a little bright, you can go into the adjustments for the base layer *after* you complete this tutorial and play with the underlying layer. If you do it before hand, you may end up with an image thats WAY too bright or dark.

In CS4 you can actually set up an adjustment layer and play with it on the fly.

  • wow amazing tutorial. thank you so much. would you tell me what program you use to record your screen. thx =)

  • It's a program called "replay screencast". Very small and doesn't take up a lot of resources like Captivate.

  • nice tutorial

  • Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! =D

  • Sorry to say that, but the result turned out to be worse than the original picture.

So much contrast and I bet that the picture is way too blury, but it probably doesn't show on the video due to the quality.

  • The image I used in the video was high quality (300 dpi) and very clear, so the effect was very subtle. If you are starting with a low quality image, or an image that is high contrast to begin with, it may affect your output quality - try sharpening your image and playing with the levels beforehand. =D

  • hey i have to say this was the most easiest tutorial yet.i love it.i have subscribe to ur blogs.once again thanks!

    x

  • It worked Great! Thank you for the tutorial... wonderful direction & audio...

  • Glad to be of help! =D

  • Nice tutorial and nice voice!

  • Thank you for the wonderful compliment! I checked out your vids and I like what I see!

  • when i chose diffuse glow it went darker instead of brighter :S

  • It does that to me sometimes too.

I think it depends on how light the picture is.

  • Before going to the filter make sure the foreground color swatch in the toolbox is black and that the background color swatch is white. If they're reversed you get the black.

  • i love this tutorial it was brilliant help! and your voice is savage! thanks mate!

  • Thank you for the compliment! Glad to be of help! =D

  • thank you so much for the help

  • You're very welcome =D

  • why is it that most of the pics i try this on, when i do the diffuse glow thingy, it looks horrible and grayish. its kinda weird and frustrating. help?

  • It depends on the image that you're using. Quality is important - if you're starting with a low quality JPG file that might be why its distorting so badly.

  • well, what if i change the image type to GIF, would that help?

  • No, not really. The starting image has to be of higher quality, and GIF is a lower quality format - it actually has less colours than a JPEG image =D

  • ooooh. didnt know that. haha thanks. =]

  • Worked like magic ..

    Thanks ..

  • You're welcome, glad to be of assistance =D

  • it didn't work for my photo =[

infact it made it worse, but it's worked for my older ones so i give it 7/10 :]

  • this is sick, i mean it is a little blurry but could work for a certain type of effect you could use later on.. thanks again

  • You're welcome, glad it helped you out =D

  • GREAT

hey i make retouchs too you can watch it on my profile! i will be very happy if you leave a comment:)

  • Thank you for the compliment. I'll check out your profile when I get a chance =D

  • wow man that was really easy yet really effective. thanks a lot!

  • You're welcome glad I could help =D

  • Awesome tutorial. I loved it.

  • Glad you liked it! Thanks for posting

  • doesnt look very good

  • Thanks for posting! If you don't like the effect, don't use it, right? It's not for everyone!

  • I agree - it's too blurry and way too much contrast :(

  • It only takes 2 minutes to do =D If you need something more technical, there are plenty of other talented tutors on YouTube. This is just my method! =p

  • Sorry it didn't work for you, hopefully you find what you're looking for with some of the other, better photoshop gurus =D

  • can i send u my pic and u can do it hehe??

  • If you send me the pic, I can see what I can do with it, maybe do a tutorial on it specifically.

  • if i send you a pic do u think u can do a tutorial on it...im sure it can be done with photoshop im just not sure how..

  • when i went to filter then to distort then diffuse it made my pic like black>> i was trying to follow step by step>>

  • all that you should do is to press "D" before, as you have the black as your foreground color and white as the background. And after that it will be ok.

  • Great quick tip. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you, always happy to help!

  • awesome. thanks!

  • you're welcome - glad you found it useful!
