@legonakonow Well, I believe the scenario was that Eruasion aggressors (or whatever they're called) closed in on the airbuses (which were neutral) and they sent out an S.O.S. Coincedentally, you were the closest plane in that region and reinforcements were too far away.
@legonakonow The mission breifing says the civilian aircraft are carrying Erusean engineers and their families to Usea and giving them amnesty. In return for the safe passage to Usea, the engineers would tell Usea how to destroy Stonehenge, the superweapon Erusea was using against Usea.
I found it pretty stupid that the transport that was not hit was still flying up at high altitude while the one that was damaged had to fly low. I'd always have to fend off the fighters on the lower one, then chug on up to the one at the high altitude. WHY COULDN'T THE HIGH FLYER COME DOWN TO THE LOW FLYER TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR ME?!?!? Common sense please!
I believe if you flight lower altitude you will have higher risk crash into the mountain. And, civilian pilot may not trained to flight throw mountain range at those altitude either. Plus, the closer you are to the ground, the more significant the terrain has effect on aircraft. (more bumpy ride and close to mountains will make passenger nervous) Panic and Chaos on the plane is the last thing fly crews wanna have. I hope that make sense.
The Nagase in AC04 probably is not related at all to the one in AC5. Nagase is just a name commonly used in NAMCO games (other examples being Reiko Nagase from the Ridge Racer series, and a selectable wingman in Ace Combat 2 named Nagase).
One of the people on the passenger planes' name is Nagase (or was it the first name, Kei?). This is the same name of Captain Kei Nagase (Callsign-EDGE) in AC5!

this mission was.....different...
a first officer named nagase (AC 5 lol)
going back and forth from low altitude to high altitude from plane to plane....
all in all, it was a pretty fun mission.
with GREAT music.
