1. I wind mine daily. A nice relaxing start to the day. :)
2. The hesalite will scratch, but is easy to polish with something like Polywatch (or even toothpaste). This will get rid of all but the deepest scratches.
How big are your wrist if you don't mind me asking :) I am planning on buying a Speedmaster but i have quite small wrists.. You can pull it of perfectly imo

(1) how often does the manual wind needs to be wound?
(2) it is not sapphire crystal. how bad is the scratch problem with the plastic/plexyglass cover?

iv'e had mine since 99' the band finally gave up the ghost so i put a leather strap and it looks great
