I loved Warcraft 2 and its story but you are being very ignorant by saying "Wow RUINS warcraft and its lore period." I think the story officially went downhill at the start of Cataclysm.
Warcraft II was good but one thig made it not-epic: whenever you play a scenario nothing happens except those things that were told in the intro. In Warccraft III lots of unexpected things happen when playing and that makes it better than Warcraft II.
You mean the Scenario Script Triggers. Yes in Warcraft II it wasnt included. First game with this feature was starcraft, but its the same like TV and a book. Warcraft II is like book reading and you get story in text form. In Warcraft III exists Triggering Events, if you used the WorldEditor you can see how that works. Please never forget, Warcraft II Release Year = 1995 Warcraft III Release Year = 2002. A long time between the games was released, so no chance to compare.

first there is the 3D graphics (i love the cartoonish style in warcraft). then there are the races. in WC2, humans and orcs were almost identical. now we have 4 VERY different, but balanced, races. +the champaign in WC3 is filled with cinematics and cut scenes, making a much better story. heroes and creeping also gives the players more tactics and choices
does anyone know the video where it's a human and an orc fighting and then some type of meteor monster falls from the sky? i cant find it an i remember that intro/outro/trailer or whatever it was no matter how much i go through these warcraft videos. i am almost positive it was warcraft 2.

The Only Reason why the most players play WoW is the fact that WoW was the first epic MMORPG Platform. No other MMO at this time has a bigger world, but one thing must you swallow and that is the fact that WoW ruins the story of Warcraft. Look at Cataclysm what the hell is that with the new Races? In Warcraft 2 is deathwing ressurected. The owner of heart of the darkness can controll the dragons. Cho'Gath found the heart of darkness and revived deathwing the king of the dragons. That is the reason why the horde can build dragons.

@G4mm4G0bl1n they actually did cooperate with humans some High elves still kept the alliance they are the silver covenant and some of the high elves in Terrokar forest left over from the alliance expedition on draenor, but i find it strange that they aligned with the same race that mostly destroyed their home in the first place

Blizz is driving itself to a dead end. What expansions can they make after Cata? All that remains is the Burning Legion and the Old Gods, and they cannot make any expansions about the Burning Legion anymore, since one was already made(Wouldn't Burning Crusade 2 be a quite boring expansion?). And if the Burning Legion and the Old Gods are killed/destroyed, what else is there that we can do? Kill the Lich King again?

The original warcraft games were full of story of epicness, but now with WoW being an MMORPG, it's all about about experience points and crappy spells (mostly stat-raisers, what's the fun in that! I would expect more combat spells and eye candy), (and n00bs who constantly fight over which of the two factions is better). In fact, most of the people who play WoW have no idea on the story (or lore in this case) or the previous games

Blackwing aka Nefarian is not the father of Onyxia, he is the elder Brother, and Nefarian is not the strongest Dragon. His father Deathwing is the strongest dragon of them all.
They ruined Azeroth a bit with Wow. They could have managed to kept the spirit around the warcraft-world but they did not since there were millions of players anyway.
I'm reading the book "beyond the dark portal" by christie golden ROFL xD things are harsh on the other side in outlands and the orcs are all killing each other in civil wars since they don't have many humans to fight while the portal is down :(
Thanx Amnael, it saddens me that most people who got into WarCraft was due to WoW, and will never know how different the story and series was before then.

You have right. Blackwing is the "Godfather" of all Dragons in Azeroth. Only he's heart can command the Dragons. The Alliance has the heart, i think it calls "Heart of Darkness". With this relict can bring Blackwing back to live.

He is REBORN in the Elemental Plains somewhere in the timeline between his death at the hands of the alliance to WCIII. Go back and play the entire WCII games all over again. It will show you and tell you hes dead. He doesnt retreat...he just dies...and is reborn.

@JBE1993 Anything is possible. Through sheer power Kel'Thuzad was reborn as a Lich. The same is done for Deathwing in the Elemental Plains which must hold sheer power to bring something as powerful as the Deathwing back.
@screwme55 Necromancery is not the same as 'being reborn' Deathwing was retconned that you didn't kill him in WC2, he escaped to Grim Batol, Elemental Plains is no such place, Deepholme is the realm of the elements, and it doesn't have the power to ressurect a titan's pet which never died in the first place

warcraft 2 IS an epic game,wonderful law and gameplay, i love warcraft 3, but the core storyline is what makes wc2 so great, i dont care about graphics or eye candy, warcraft 2 is the real only legendary RTS ever, i love it.
gameplay wise warcraft 2 was the best, warcraft 3 along with most other RTS games that made the jump to 3d didnt have the same cohesiveness of the 2d WCII and C&C/C&C:Red Alert

I agree with screwme55. I think warcraft 2 is better than Warcraft 3 in many ways. I hate the new heroes in warcraft 3 and I loved the navy but they got rid of that too. Warcraft 3's costs of buildings and units are weird. 90 gold for a worker? why couldn't they just round it up to 100. and I hate how the workers have to wait 1 at a time to go in a gold mine. and it's so slow to build things in the game. I think WC3 is a great game, but I think WC2 is better

By the time they make WC4 there won't be any lore left to make anything worthwhile.
Their killing all the heroes/villains, old gods, titans and so on on WoW. When everything is done what will they do? probably go back to basics and start from scratch, because the series has seriously derailed from what its supposed to be.
WarCraft, thanks to WoW and its mainstream success has become nothing more than another cliche high fantasy game.

Black Riders from Deadwind Pass came to Duskwood looking for the Scythe and murdered a family of farmers in the search to find it. The Terrowulf worgen tribe stayed at the Shrine in Ashenvale for a while, and eventually left, though it is not known where they went. Eventually the worgen curse spread into Gilneas, turning it's citizens into Worgen.

In Warcraft 2 is deathwing ressurected. The owner of heart of the darkness can controll the dragons. Cho'Gath found the heart of darkness and revived deathwing the king of the dragons. That is the reason why the horde can build dragons.

@G4mm4G0bl1n they actually did cooperate with humans some High elves still kept the alliance they are the silver covenant and some of the high elves in Terrokar forest left over from the alliance expedition on draenor, but i find it strange that they aligned with the same race that mostly destroyed their home in the first place

Blizz is driving itself to a dead end. What expansions can they make after Cata? All that remains is the Burning Legion and the Old Gods, and they cannot make any expansions about the Burning Legion anymore, since one was already made(Wouldn't Burning Crusade 2 be a quite boring expansion?). And if the Burning Legion and the Old Gods are killed/destroyed, what else is there that we can do? Kill the Lich King again?

I agree. The original warcraft games were full of story of epicness, but now with WoW being an MMORPG, it's all about about experience points and crappy spells (mostly stat-raisers, what's the fun in that! I would expect more combat spells and eye candy), (and n00bs who constantly fight over which of the two factions is better). In fact, most of the people who play WoW have no idea on the story (or lore in this case) or the previous games

You have right. Blackwing is the "Godfather" of all Dragons in Azeroth. Only he's heart can command the Dragons. The Alliance has the heart, i think it calls "Heart of Darkness". With this relict can bring Blackwing back to live.

@JBE1993 Then you havent played WCII fully. You kill Deathwing in the alliance campgian. No mention of him leaving Azeroth except by death. He is REBORN in the Elemental Plains somewhere in the timeline between his death at the hands of the alliance to WCIII. Go back and play the entire WCII games all over again. It will show you and tell you hes dead. He doesnt retreat...he just dies...and is reborn.

I agree with screwme55. I think warcraft 2 is better than Warcraft 3 in many ways. I hate the new heroes in warcraft 3 and I loved the navy but they got rid of that too. Warcraft 3's costs of buildings and units are weird. 90 gold for a worker? why couldn't they just round it up to 100. and I hate how the workers have to wait 1 at a time to go in a gold mine. and it's so slow to build things in the game. I think WC3 is a great game, but I think WC2 is better

By the time they make WC4 there won't be any lore left to make anything worthwhile.
Their killing all the heroes/villains, old gods, titans and so on on WoW. When everything is done what will they do? probably go back to basics and start from scratch, because the series has seriously derailed from what its supposed to be.
WarCraft, thanks to WoW and its mainstream success has become nothing more than another cliche high fantasy game.
