  • 94.5 - 97 Had AA code injs. 98cc single shot. 97 cali and early 99' had AB split shot 135cc. The late 99 to 03 used a AD code split shot 140cc. As well as being quieter the main reason for the split shot was for emisssions. note the early 99's to 03's were "non catalyst"

  • dp-tuner.come there sick i love it :-))

  • so if you can make a 7.3 use pilot injection and idle quieter, can you in theory make a tune that would make the 6.4s idle louder?

  • where do you get that kind of tuner?

  • Did you install the DP Tuner yourself? And how do you like it?

  • Jody is THE man !!.. I'm ready to get the F-6 .. I have more I wanna get.

  • The Powerstroke uses a HEUI fuel system which controlls injection pressures with the HPOP (high pressure oil pump or HEUI pump). Lowering the injection pressures makes the engine have less cackle. Jody may also be retarding timing which also makes them quieter.

  • its actually called pilot injction all the new fords have it it injects a small amount of fuel right after combustion making the engine quieter has nothing to do with injection pressures

  • I didn't think 7.3's has the ability to alter the pilot injection? You are correct that pilot injection helps to quiet diesels. Also, I work on 3126, C7 and C9 CAT engines which use HEUI systems. I'll post a video of me lowering the pressures in a week or so (for sound comparison). Also, I'm not trying to bash you or anything, but I need to point out that pilot injection comes before the main injection (not after).

  • I agree, the newer 99.5-03 7.3 has a dual stage injector, allowing it to only fire a main burst of fuel followed by a second smaller one. However the newer powerstrokes, have multiple smaller injections which allow it to control the injection more, and the new 6.4s use a fuel rail with solenoids that allow a very exremly controlled burst of fuel into the cylinder during the entire power stroke, thusly allowing the injections to be smaller creates less knocking/cackle at idle

  • Dude you got your infor wrong- first came the single shot injector from 93-97, then the split shot from 99-03. The split shot fires a smaller "pilot" shot followed by the main charge afterwards.

  • go watch the power stroke help guy vids on here, all the info you'd ever need, the 99 had single still the 99.5 - 03 had the dual shot, by lessing the main shot you can decrease the noise, I know my shit about power strokes, other wise why the fuck would I want this name on here

  • Hey guy I wasn't trying to piss ya off, just simply correct your wrong information about the pilot shot, so don't get your panties in a bunch. Maybe your source is wrong, but one of you is. The split shot is a smaller pilot shot, followed by the main shot- you had it backwards, maybe a mistake? And believe me, I too know my shit about the 7.3.

  • @PowerStrokeDieselz You're an idiot... Do you realize that when you speak out trying to defend your ignorance, and then post more ignorance, you only sound REALLY ignorant. Neither of your posts in this conversation have been correct. You FAIL.

  • @PowerStrokeDieselz the 97-early 99s have the the AB split shot injectors. 1999.5 and up got the AD injector. the only difference is the amount of fuel they flow. The onlt trucks that have single shot injectors are tha 1994.5-1996 trucks and the people that want them for performance reasons. I know for sure that the AB injectors are in the Early99 trucks because I OWN ONE! build date 11/7/1998

  • So what all does this tune do to quiet it down? Mess with the timing or what?

  • I love my drive thru tune- Jody Tipton is the shizznit LOL. I have stock, hi idle, 60t, 80e, 120r, 140ext, drive thru, and emmissions. Thinking I'd also like to get a smoke-lope idle on it too.

  • Hey i drive a 2000 F250 and have been seriously considering DP. What kind of mileage does your truck get on 80 econ?

  • I would say you can expect an extra 1-2 mpg if you can keep your foot out of it LOL. But again I will say, you can't go wrong with Jody and Diane- first rate folks that bend over backward to help ya.

  • sweet tuner... if I get a 7.3 have to consider/ purchase a dp tuner

  • That's cool. My lope idle really works the way it should. I would like to get this one too though. I may have to ask Jody what he did. I guess the exhaust would still be as loud though...

  • That is great. Is this something Jody does often, or is it something you had him do? I have to have my chip reburned now.....
