so good. when i listen to this song on youtube, just the song alone, it's euphoric. But somehow when I get to this level in the game, the visuals of that level (which are good in themselves) don't match up with the music somehow and it takes away from the music. I'm not sure how to explain it. do you feel this way?
I've only beat the boss in one round of bouncing around inside two or three times (out of maybe 12 playthroughs), but when you do, it's an unspeakably amazing feeling!
This track is so slick. The whole Sonic Spinball soundtrack was.
I actually thought this was the easiest level. It took longer than the first level, but it was more straightforward and had less risky parts (no sludge from missing the barrel and stuff like that).
@evee608 Its name is the Veg-O Machine, as the game says. And yes, it's practically mass-producing robots; they're brought in tubes, like mere objects.
@Sphynxinator well,i'm not ENTIRELY sure but just the fact that there were different music for the 2p stages probably means that these songs were supposed to be used for deleted stages and also:
@BasementHaxxProd Thats my favorite part. For some reason it also synch's when you hurl Sonic all the way up to the platform that leads you to the boss.
i think it was called veg-o machine cause robots are next tp mindless like people in a coma aka vegetables. or sega went with the "veg-o" theme from the name of the fortress.
My 14 year old neighbor listens to music similar to this all day long. She thinks that this kind of stuff is so new and trendy. But she's wrong: it's older than herself - Sonic SP is the proof :D
Does anyone have the European version of this track? It sounded so much better in my opinion. :x Maybe it's the emulator that's been used, but the electronic sounds are much more melodic in that, and that loud "BIAOW BOW" noise shouldn't exist.
@Eggman890 The "biaow bow" noise exists due to the emulator. Setting the High Quality filter on the emulator (Gens) fixes that annoying problem. I think Kega already emulates that properly, since it's more accurate in means of actual hardware. But the European versions did fix the music a tad bit. (The Options screen music was sped up, the intro tune was extended, and the music of Lava Powerhouse was sped up and bug fixed to prevent the PSG from dying off after the music looped once.)
@aryinc Yeah the Gems Sound Engine was known to be the worse in Genesis games. Also, VGM's ripped from games that use this sound driver have this problem even if you rip them from Kega Fusion, found that out myself. (You can't get a clean VGM due to the fact that it won't dump the filter data along with the song. I dunno if Steve Snake will fix this. BTW he's the guy who made Fusion.)
well it is.i barely can name 5 games that sound good with gems sonic spinball sounds decent at best golbal gladiators earthworm jim 1+2 comix zone toy story and that about it.
The best part of this stage is actually EVERYTHING, including F***ing up the pathetic Veg-O Machine! "SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! SMASHING!!! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! !OVERHEATING!" Mwa hahahaha!
@DDReaper16 agreed. i couldn't even stop for a minute to catch my bearings. Remember that small chamber that hung above the flippers at the start of the stage? where sonic jumps in and starts flying all over with electricity? That sent sonic flying out in all kinda directions causing some really messed up deaths
man, the deaths in this game are intense! theres pools of lava, crushed between gears, more lava, and well sewage water which isn't deadly but its gross lol :D
this was my favourite level from the game for 2 reasons. this music, and the fact that the boss was a roboticizer. never really got the name "Veg-O Machine"...
This level's the best one in the game. I like the song too. Busting prisons open, the flippers that act like elevators, those things that stop the wheels at the start, slides and the boss. Another thing is, you know those platforms that move? There's a way to stop them. If you look up, they stop instantly. Wierd, huh?
The two parts of it where you have to somehow hit Sonic really hard with a flipper to get him all the way up somewhere, I discovered something about that. If you make him curl into a ball while the flipper is up, the entire flipper actually moves up, like an elevator, to help him get there.
it took me sooooooooooooooooo long 2 figure that out. i used 2 do it the hard way and try 2 get sonic up there. then my dad came into the room and saw me playin it, and told me 2 try that, lmao! i think i was in elementary school at the time lol
the stage I never got to pass... when I played the game I played it, mostly for its music, and to see if I could finally beat it. if my SEGA wouldnt be broken I would probably be there and not writing this now lol :D
I finnished this game once. hard as hell I tell ya!

You know, with some minor changes, I could see this being used in Sonic the Hedgehog 2's scrapped "Cyber City Zone".

@dsdface Game in the link is not the official game, just a hacked version. :D So they put the musics randomly.

The low pass filter that occurs at 1 minute would be impossible to do on the SNES. Goes to show that real time synthesis is way better than MIDI.

Strangely enough this was the first stage that I mesmorised the locations of all the emeralds.
1 / 2. In the machines on the far left and right, need to get into the power chambers 3 times per side or get lucky.
3. on the left side, 3rd chute to shoot up.
4. on the right, go down the tube on the left of the moving platform (going up leads to the boss)
5. in the centre(ish) capsule in the animal prison.
MatticusMadness 7 months ago 4
once i played this level ,then i collected all emeralds, but all of a sudden i got two extra chaos emeralds . then i was like wtf two extras?O:
