@timspradlin2001 Look in the 13:00 time area in my John Bonham Bassdrum Pedal Technique Led Zeppelin Terry Keating video. It's exactly that but just a tad faster..
You mentioned the time signature being in15/8. Bonham counts them in: "1,2,3,4". so it is in 4/4, + or -88 bpm. In the riff, the bars flip from 4/4 to 7/8.
It counts:1+2+3+4+12345671+2+3+4+. etc. for 8 bars. The outro is in 12/8, giving the 4/4 a triplet feel. I have to disagree with you a bit about how sparse the beginning is. I clearly hear a ghost bass note before the 4th beat in the 4/4 bars. Zeppelin had a few songs with tricky 7/8 measures. Out On The Tiles has one, last bar, 1st verse.
@wmjoca the ghost bass note definately! not that it's a bad lesson @ all, he's awesome, but that's how I've been(trying to)-learn- to play it since....thanx, thought I was hearing thing's haha-
Very true how many like to make some of Bonham's rhythms more busy than they actually are. Most are perfect examples of how "it's not what you play, but how you play it"; and Bonham certainly knew how to get it done right.
@semiLivedj hahaha! fhilarious! I was thinking the same thing! I wish I woulda had somethin like that back when I used to smoke all the time! he had a car in the background also in a few vid's..saweeet! I would get a job giving lesson's if I was as good and just hang out down there all day..wonder if he has a refrigerator w/ a tap on the door too?! haha-
i thought he was playing doubles on the swing part with that ghost notes on the snare. thanks for clearing it up :) get back to me on the mount please if your still intrested
Hey Terry, I recently bought a Ludwig LM402t 14x6.5 snare drum (tube lugs). I was wondering if you could give me your opinions on this particular drum, and also what you think of the stock drum heads that come with the ludwig drums? i would appreciate it, Cheers.
I did'n realize the kick was so sparse until I was much more experienced...or older, as a player but more importantly, an experienced listener, but you are right brodder!
Outstanding Terry! I *love* the "but he should" part!!!

great video again. the way you simplify things is great because it always does sound like he's hitting more notes than he is.
