film financing savvy. very little else. while there were a few very well executed scenes and the production values were high throughout, i find it hard to believe how poorly constructed the story was. the last scene seemed more like a drama school improvisation than the final scene in a major release film. Here's a film that has it all -- including great acting -- everything except a well-developed narrative. still, an impressive vanity showcase for DDL. He has a great haircut in this film.
Needlessly harsh review, branchwater7. TWBB is incredible, but you're right, the ending hangs on a bit awkwardly. No Country For Old Men was a perfect film while TWBB had a problem with the end, but I found TWBB more enjoyable and I find myself wanting to watch it like once a week. So.... No need to hate on it. Just enjoy this joint.
You clearly know nothing, yet pretentiously try to create the impression that you do by using terms such as "well executed scenes". Overall, a pathetic review.
Oh hell yeah! I'll probably watch it 3 times the first day it comes out on DVD. Such a good movie, i hope the thing is 4 hours long! The cinematography, Daniel Day and how PTA makes each scene flow so perfect! I could talk about this for days!
I saw this movie in a sneak preview two weeks ago or so.
It kind of petered out at the end. I like DDL, Last of the Mohicans, gangs of new york, but this one was all over the place. His mustache rivals that of Sam Elliot though, I'll give him that.
When he said he's finished, he wasn't wrong I'll tell you that.
I was so looking forward to this, when I saw it,I was very disapointed for a number of reasons. Now,I'm convinced,I must go back and watch it again...
