yea black ops has been killing peoples' wiis because the game is at the very edge of the wii's capabilities and so it burns out your wii faster and its most likely to burn you lens out and you can just buy a new lens on amazon for really cheap.
@consolezombie so are the laser assy's the same for all drives? or does each drive model have a specific one?i have a first production run wii that wont read any discs,i want to fix the drive, but not sure if its the laser, also could i get a new wii and put the drive from the new wii in my old wii,but put the logic board from my old wii's drive in the new dvd drive before i put it in my old wii?i want to mod my old wii so i can install bootmii as boot2 not an ios &i want a non d2e drive
Thanks for the post. I followed you instructions and was able to replace the laser lens in my Wii successfully. It took me about 45 minutes in all but that's only because I pause the video every now and then to verify that what I was doing was correct. Good job.
I would love this tutorial if it wasn't for the voice, it was a nice tutorial everything was explained pretty well but the voice it's just too annoying to hear for almost 6 minutes, everything else was wonderful though
i have done everything in the video i have try two new laser and both have not fixed the problem can same one help to tell me if there is a another problem that could be wrong
i have the read disc error and i have taken my wii apart just to see if it needed to be cleaned. how do i know for sure if i need to replace the laser?

Just my luck. The Wii is apart and I go to your website to diagnose and it has malware. I can't even order a part. Hope you're up n running soon.

The installation went great. No problems. But when I turned on the Wii the screen was completely black. What happened?
digipalmatt 1 year ago
@digipalmatt Did you use some kind of anti-static protection? Sounds like you might have zapped the motherboard.
ConsoleZombie 1 year ago
@ConsoleZombie No, not that I know of.
