Hey, recording question. I know you use Firepods. But I'm looking at an interface with multiple applications. I've found a mixer with firewire and USB 2.0 connectivity with multitrack recording and monitor and stereo outputs. Would you say that would be a wise investment? Also, did you get your mics in packs or separately?
As long as you're sure it's SIMULTANEOUS multi-track recording, I think it's a good bet. Also - does it actually record these tracks straight onto a computer, or does it record internally? Now that I've used an audio interface that goes straight into the computer, I wouldn't recommend anything else. USB 2.0 isn't all that great but Firewire should work fine.
My drum mics came in packs - they're the cheap "CAD" brand, and for the price I think they do the job quite nicely.
@SnareSpectre That's the thing, the mixer I'm looking at does both. It's an audio interface with multitrack recording and a standard mixer as well. So yes it can record all of these tracks at once.
Sounds like a good piece of equipment to me...I definitely recommend going and asking someone at a local Guitar Center or something about it first, though, since I'm not too knowledgeable on different models of mixer. I'm only familiar with how to work Firepods :)
What haters? :) So far, this video has gotten a lot of great feedback! I'm really, really proud of this one, and I imagine Cadmiumboy is, too...he wrote one heck of a cool song here. Everyone here should send him PMs and tell him to write another one so we can post another video sometime soon. :D
freakin sick! how does your kit sounds so good with these mics?! i have a samson 5kit, pluged in to a behringer xenyx mixer, do you have any tips on how to make it sound better (check my vids to hear them)
@ThePurpleDrumStick thanks! it's not so much a mic choice as it is with mic placement and a lot of post-processing. check out SnareSpectre's tutorials on recording/mixing drums; he goes pretty in depth with it
@squibble94 thanks man! tis a Greg Bennett bass made by Samick, which is only about $200, paired up with an amp simulator plugin that came with my software
@Cadmiumboy WOW!!! My 7th grade english teacher had a Samick... It sounded like absolute junk. How does it feel to play? Right now I'm using a Peavey Patriot bass, and it's not the tone I want at all. I can use an upgrade.
@squibble94 it feels pretty good to play because of the low action. although I'd prefer it if the headstock were bigger, because I like basses with counterweight contrasting the body. I don't know much about the patriot bass, but you could try switching out the pickup... and/or you can invest in a sansamp bass driver, which makes almost anything sound good
@Cadmiumboy I see. The bass I'm using is past the point of sounding good. I like basses with smooth and punchy highs. Basically Fender P/Jazz basses. The highs on my bass sound farty. They aren't tight at all. I don't really even think it's worth it to replace the pickup. A new bass is definitely in order for this guy. :D
@CrawfordDrummer yeah I know what you mean. well actually I was more so influenced by the likes of Yes and LTE for the intro, but it turned out sounding more like AAL >_<
@Cadmiumboy Well I thinks that is how almost every song is made, a collection of influences making a unique sound, or maybe just a computer and pitch correction haha not here tho!
Sic!

THIS IS WHY THE INTERNET EXISTS!! This is what people from all over the globe should be doing. Don't listen to haters.
In the description you should be soliciting a vocalist. (you're way too far away from worrying about royalties)
