The original version of this was by a British band called The Table, recoreded back in 1977. Good version though

Yep, though both are sonically adventurous. The Table were led by artist Russell Young & the single's B side was the superb "Magical Melon Of The Tropics". If you can find a copy it's well worth hearing!
