  • Why have I never heard of The Avalanche ever before today?

  • From 2:27 on is some of the best music I've ever heard.

  • I have a party going on in my head listening to this...thanks for sharing!

  • Where the sample that plays from 0:55 -1:25 comes from?

  • i like that whistle stuff @ 3:03

  • For some reason their music always sounds better when I switch my head phones around.

(Left to Right, right to left)

  • This whole album is great if your flying somewhere. Listened to the whole thing though from Ohio to California. and again on the flight back.

  • @LoadedVanguard Then you wouldn't know what a pimp in Chicago, Who just snorted a lot cocaine Feels.

  • This song makes me think of one thing: that very moment moment when you get out of the Lincoln Tunnel and New York City just hits you smack in the face.

  • Szikalafą !

  • fuckin awsome album !!!!!

  • I bought this album when it came out, and unlike a lot of electronic/dj music from back then, it still sounds fresh and awesome

  • STOOL PIDGEON!!!!!

  • Wow. This is some incredible sampling. Can't wait for a new album (if there will be one).

  • LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE!

  • right at 1:25 is the moment for me.... my heart jumps out of me and i stay suspended until the end

  • Holy shit, this samples Daft Punk!

  • @evankowalski no it doesn't, all of daft punk's work is sample-based

  • @evankowalski Daft Punk is not sampled in this track, but the drum beat from "Da Funk" is actually used in "Electricity."

  • i put this on my sex on ice playlist :D

  • One of the truly great albums!

  • Do you know from which song comes the sample at 2:28 who says "turning the junk upside down" ?

  • oh, no, I found it ! From "Kid Creole & the Coconuts - Stool Pigeon" !

  • my stereo needs to be louder than ten for this song.

  • i really want to decompose the song

  • Soooooooooooooooo good.

  • the disco the disco the disco... was at an awesome gig at st jeromes one night after the races a few moons back, had a surprise visit from one of the members from avalanches on the decks... what a night... the patio was jumping and bouncing til last drinks...

  • @balkans01

    I'm so jelous..

I hate going to clubs with friends only to be force fed the stupid shit we got nowadays.

  • 1:36 <3

  • the begining sounds like it can be on a kung fu scene...(0:03-.1:32)...BEAST MODE.

  • the great battle between Herobrine and Rama begins NOW

    @Toonami

    TN!

  • I think sampling music like the Avalanches do it is as valid of an art form as composing music.

  • In case anyone is wondering, this music sounds amazing on LSD!

  • @MrJas1991

    nointrest

  • @godfather12m

    okayhavenceday

  • song at 2:24?

  • Where does the sample that comes in at 0:03 come from, the back disco like beat?

  • @HitmanOnAcid1 Sylvester - Rock The Box, I didnt really know what do You excactly mean asking the first time. Quite banging tune as well :)

  • @HitmanOnAcid1

watch?v=_Boqv2PWyI8 this is a video showing where the samples in this song come from

  • @HitmanOnAcid1 It's also mixed with The Isley Brothers - Tell Me When You Need It Again

  • WoW!!!!!

    KICK ASS!

  • Love the Kid Creole & the Coconuts sample in their, Stool Pigeon.....

  • Love the Kool & The Gang sample in their, Stool Pigeon. Higher than top notch.

  • It really should be upside down.

  • STOOOL PIGEON, HACHACHACHA

  • Any idea as to what sort of equipment these guys use for their mixing?

  • Can someone tell me what song the beat from 0:04 to 0:37 is from, and I don't mean Tell me When You Need it Again by the Isley Brothers. I offer a thousand thanks.

  • This is great!

  • I have no idea what the actual sample is, but at 1:24 on "Close to You" (the song, not this video), the brief vocal sample that is used sounds exactly the same as the one used at 1:03 on DJ Shadow's "Organ Donor." Any thoughts? Just noticed while I was listening to Endtroducing.

  • @WannaTradePants entroducing is a great album

  • I just ordered this album after listening to this track! Many thanks for posting :) x

  • I forgot how rock these guys are.

    Cheers to good music.

  • been listenin to avalanches for a while i had them on my ipod all the time when i was going to college an walking through the city in dc great music and thanks for the upload

  • ? this isnt daft punk

  • psychotic. excellent. bang bang bang bang...

  • Comment removed

  • naw, you're thinking of daft punk.

  • perfect album.

  • I just got a hold of this album 2 days ago. But I'm already in love. Amazing

  • this album is perhaps the best album I've ever heard, i simply dont know how they created this, its like a dream brought to life

  • @stellarshore my thoughts exactly...my all time favorite

  • @stellarshore Very well put, this album is one of the greatest albums ever made, and I think you nailed an explanation. There is this dream-like quality throughout the entire record that never lets up. Simply incredible.

  • Fajny zespół z Austalii. Choć mało popularny w Polsce. W 2000 roku dwie piosenki moźna było u nas posłuchać.

  • Jak wczoraj po 10 ? latach zobaczyłem teledysk "Since I left you" to aż mi się łezka w oku zakręciła... To jest kapela!

  • The correct sample lyrics are a mixture of the following...

    "...close to you..."

    "...glass got me right..."

    "...stop to the midnight..."

    "...on to the disco..."

"There's a gentleman that's goin' 'round, turnin' the joint upside-down."

  • I try to imagine what it would be like to mix a song like this myself, and the sheer amount of time and effort needed to mix a song like this becomes apparent to me.

This is ridiculous. This is supreme.

  • @DubiousDrewski

    couldn't have said it better.

    these guys are truly awe-inspiring,

they take plunderphonics to a whole new level

  • animaltaglits, yeah man, i love that thick rolling bass line. good shit all around

  • 2:25

  • thats my favorite part too. but i looked up the lyrics the first part doesnt add up to it. theres a tense young man going around turnin the joint outside down

  • @animaltaglits i think it's from a song called Stool Pigeon by Kid Creole & the Coconuts

  • 1:25 on is the JAM!

shit, who am i kidding, this whole song is the jam

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I was just reading the November 2002 issue of British magazine Sound on Sound. Wonderful and detailed article on how they create their music. The complexity of how they put it all together (Midi Mutes! Just insane) inspired me to have a listen, so thank you for posting this. I'll be getting the CDs from Amazon soon.

  • the avalanches kinda remind me of the chemical brothers if you havent heard of them you should check them out and see what i mean

  • sampled over soooo many times.... i can see why though, its a good song.

  • That piano track almost sounds like Bruce Hornsby...he kinda made the scene in Canada in the early eighties

  • Yeah, that piano sample at 3.35, it's a killer disco track. One of my big regrets is passing that over in a big stack of vinyl I was listening to at a record shop (probably cos the other 12 tracks on the comp were average or nothing special).

Can anyone ID that track for me?

  • the last song on this; i forgot where they sampled that from! i heard it SOMEwhere.

  • It's a theme from Quiller, a 70 TV series bout a British spy. Hope dat helps :)

  • O wow! didn't actually expect anyone to know their music that much. thank you so much mr/ms!

(could've sworn it was a late 90's song with a girl and a piano)

  • Nao, I recall many TV series from my childhood + I've downloaded a probably complete set of songs they've sampled for Since I Left You :)

  • what i want to know is where the mellow piano sample which drops in at 0:55 comes from.

  • The Moog Machine - Aquarius.

  • your my favorite person in the world today, thanks kindly.

  • i gotta breakdance to this track everytime i hear it. thanx for the post ;)

  • not as well known as front. pyche., but better song on that record.

  • loooove it!
