  • I loved this song back then and I still love it. It gets better as the years go by.

  • This is the cut!!! I've always thought this song was sooo pimp! I thought Boz Scaggs was black when I first heard it,the mas got soul! I love to ride in my '83 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham coupe w/the windows rolled halfway down bumpin this track,I wish it could be my life soundtrack.

  • man listen to JEFF go on this one!

  • Thanks for the upload, Smoth!

  • got called lowdown quite a bit of times. move on quietly is what i did. then kept on dancing. life is short. move on people. love you millie!

  • #482

  • What a great album... :)

  • i like how this song starts out somewhat mellow and finishes up as a hard driving rock number.

  • Wish I was alive during this time. Born in 86 and I can't get enough of this jam!

  • Incredible drum groove by the great Jeff Porcaro. RIP.

  • Reminds me of the time I went out with Lois. I loved her.

  • this entire album needs to be put into a time capsule and launched into space!!! Not a bad tune on the entire record! In his prime, he was so cool, that when he crossed the street....."both ways" looked for HIM......

  • Beautiful as only Boz can do it !

  • 70's kicked ass...

  • Two albums in 1976 have maintained relevance into the 21st century : Doctor Savannah's Original Savannah Band with it's danceable retro hits, and of course,Silk Degrees featuring the smash,Lowdown by the one ,the only,Boz Scaggs!

  • @nvet1953 Have to agree with your comments............Two class albums!

  • In my opinion, "Silk Degrees" is the best Boz Scaggs's album.

  • He taught me how to have a decent conversation over dinner with you along with his music in the background.

  • This song just makes People Dance.!!! Search Low down cover.... Hear our version recoded live!!. Flatline Band! Houma Louisiana!

  • back then when a song came on the radio, and yes we listened to a LOT of radio, you KNEW who it was. Style was so distinctive and original then. Sittin out in the field with a few doobies and some draft and all the radios tuned to the same station...

  • 'lowdown'.. definitely a favorite of the older (older to me back then meant 20 or more- haha) dancers, the frosh and soph dancers liked 'it's over' from the same album.

  • THIS MY SWING OUT AND FOUR CORNER JAM

  • we used to do the cha-cha to this at the disco . . . .

  • Where are they touring?

  • Saw him tonight with Michael McDonald, So much fun. Made me feel 18 again!!

  • This is a bad joint !!!

  • I find it impossible to stay still during this song.

  • Been listening to XM Radio 70s and really missing these days when music was SO good. Can't get enough of this one.

  • Jeff Porcaro lays down one of the funkiest and best drum tracks of the rock era.

  • THAT HIGH HAT...LOVE THE PERCUSSIONS...DAMN WHERE DID THOSE DAYS GO.....

  • Nothing today could compare to the smooth groove of this classic. The 70s was the bomb.

  • Boz is a BOSS!

  • i so wish he would be apprecaited.

  • Love it

  • it is still good!

  • His voice is like condensed velvet mixed with an orgasm...its that good

  • RIP Jeff Porcaro, you laid the groove DOWN!

  • This is smooth soul, with enough undrelying funk, to knock you on your butt, and like it!

  • why the hate on contemporary music? what are you gonna do, take a time machine journey? live on the planet and enjoy music of all eras.

go hear artists like whitefield brothers, william parker, up bustle & out, nomo, grupo fantasma, antibalas, j-live, orgone, amir el saffar, nação zumbi, jimmy bosch, budos band, etc. that is a wide swath of great contemporary music from the underground. check it out.

  • people are feeling this.. peace, love...

  • Just wanted to thank you for uploading a CD quality file.

  • This is the perfect R&B song. Perfect key, easy vocals to sing, perfect beat, slammin altered chords on the electric piano, perfect story, and one of the best bridges on all times. Listen to how he layered the strings on parts of the song. Get Down Boz!

  • It can't get no better. This is where it's at!!!

  • My Theme Song soy "el Jefe del Estado Mayor"

    And I APPROVE this MESSAGE!!

  • My funk/latin band MIRRORDANCE used to play this in the GIG set--brilliant sound! Great memories of great times in Cheltenham, UK.

  • Yep, I agree music nowadays is just..... ugh!! And I'm 22 years old here folks.

  • PERFECTION..!!!!!!!!

  • A definite 70's megahit here! This is one of the best Boz ever did. Great music along with unforgettable memories!

  • Brilliant, as bright as the sun

  • yeah, you kids try and top this!!!!!

  • The absolute hippest lyrics ever recorded. Period!

  • The digital age and sound reproduction has brought an onslaught of "artificial" tones and sound. Back then, there were real musicians playing instruments, not computerized generated sounds, I admit, there are some who mastered this new technology, but nothing can compare to the real thing.

  • @barbarabell2011 So true - I'm so sad for my kids - fuck - i do all i can - but they say - you gotta go with the new stuff - do i fuck. This is so many miles better, here to the moon.

  • My Theme Song

  • Sidenote: That background music---played by the eventual Toto band.

  • Enthralling.... :)

  • Man, this song takes me back to the good old days in the 70's... The world was a much better place back then... People were differant back then... What happen ???

  • One of the original "disco grooves". Just as good now thanks for downloading, smooth1productions

  • Baby's into running around

    Hanging with the crowd

Putting your business in the street talking out loud

Saying you bought her this and that

And how much you done spent

I swear she must believe it's all heaven sent

Hey boy you better bring the chick around

To the sad truth the dirty lowdown

  • this is real music i was 18 when i first heard this song in nurnberg germany and i was one of the few african-american who groove to this along with my girl monica hicks who sang in a band called ffb(far from beyond) she had a good voice toooo. gdnx

  • I want to live in that kick drum sound.

  • David Hungate's bass kicks ass.

  • Absolutely nothing wrong with this song at all ... Terrific!

  • This is an amazing futuristic song for late 1976. It sounds more like '78 or '79. ...just shows what great musicians they all are on this album.

  • @crosxtalk yeh doesnt sound anything like late '76 more like early '77

  • This is pure genius. Soul, funk,R&B,rock. Boz put it all together. The guitar solo is dirty and tends to crack up. Exactly what the song needs. Emotional pain and you can feel it. The synthesizer with the buzzy sound adds to the underlying and dark feel, inspite of the lively up and disco-rock beat. I've listened to this track about 100 times to learn the guitar solo and another 300 just because I can't get enough. It's trance and hypnotic at the same time. I learned music from this album.

  • @leegenix It's heart felt - end of.

  • DOOOOOOOOOOM

    SPECIAL HERBZ!!!!!

  • Heeeeeeeeeey this is the jam!!!! ty for posting.

  • YES, YES, YES!!!!

  • A true classic

  • It's Jeff Porcaro. You are my hero!! RIP

  • aahh yes.. the 70's ;-)

  • ohh! and of course Miss Winehouse..

  • why oh why do we have all this force fed crappy music these days. 70's were the best.

  • no real musicians! no real music !

  • Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand, some of Robbie Williams, Keene...and loads more..just look for it.

  • @lalodub YOU so right i wasn't even born in 70's i was born in 82' and i can't stand my generation music with the exception of some artist Angie Stone John Legend

  • @walkinwitjesus You aren't looking hard enough...

  • Just another great musician of the 70's. Glad I was there to see and hear them all!!

  • great boz scagg really good music
