@habababa6 A kit is between 100-150€. If you want a complete set (remote control, batteries and charger) you have to think about 350€. Could be cheaper with a RTR set but less quality.
@orci77 im new to rc i was gonna get a timiya but it dosnt come with a remote and baterries how can i hook up a remote and hw much does a remote usaly run for
@PanCakePB If you are searching for a remote control be sure to go for a 2,4GHz one. The beginner version are now quite cheap, maybe Spektum D2S. And get 1-2 Lipos with a charger that has an integrated balancer.
@PanCakePB I wouldnt buy an HPI. In Germany it is hard to get spare parts and they are expensive. You get Tamiya and especially TT-01 parts on every corner. What to do depends and what you want to do. Are you sure you like this hobby? Do you want to do it a little more serious? Get a Tamiya TA05 with extra electronics. If not get a RTR BUT be aware that maybe you have to rebuy everything if it gets more serious.
@orci77 i live in the us and im planing to stick to one rc car thats rtr until that one completey is fucked up a kid so i wont have the money even if it gets "serious"
@littleps3dude The "R" is a special kit from Tamiya available for nearly any type of chassis. Therefore I cannot really say. But I would guess the hop ups are 50-100€.
Replace parts if the wear out or break. You could put much money into TT-01 hop ups. At the end you payed maybe more than a TRF 416 costs.
@unit2135532 As long as the body respects the wheel base and width of the chassis, yes. The Tamiya chassis are normaly 185mm wide. HPI and others offer 190mm bodies so you have to extend the wide with spacers for example.
No. It comes with a very good instruction. See if read/look carefully into it, you get a well build car.
The top speed depends on the electric motor. I think anything more than 50km/h is too much for this beginner level car. But 50km/h is already quite a speed.
thos LRP no limit ESC are A piece of shit, I went threw two of them, they melted both times with a 4600 6cell battery on it, but the motor was a 6 turn, but still!
that celica body looks a bit wide for the chassis, is it a 190mm or 200mm? is there any way to space out the wheels so they sit more flush with wider bodies like that?
Ad 1 or 2 extra spacer clips on the rear springs to make them stiffer. Then get some tamiya drift tires type-d they are ultra hard plastic / rubber compound... and look it go Dorifto !
ive got a graet vigor .....its aussie but im getting a tt-01 and putting my brushless in that and putting the motor and esc ect.. from the tamiya in the great vigor
Just got pulled back into RC stuff recently when my coworker got a Mini-Z AWD... that tiny little thing drifts!!

i was talking about if someone wants to upgrade their motor they will need to upgrade their speed controler for it to work properly also and thats why i said if you dont want problems with it,buy analloy propeller shaft and ball bearings. i dont know what your talking about!
First go ball bearings and an aluminium driving shaft. You should try and maybe add adjustable suspension and aluminium steering.
60-70km/h are a lot of speed in my opinion. An LRP Challenge 17T gives you good speed (about 50-55km/h). If you want more I would take a brushless set.
i have the same kit TT-01R with 10t brushles motor i do around 60/65km/h
with my curris speed controler and alloy shocks most of the kit light by using carbon fiber parts i would fit heatsink and
nitro shoes wheels i am in the finals in every race and 1 to 3rd in the small races also on the drive shaft it is quite light the one with the kit so i would use a stronger heaver drive shaft you can buy upgrades of ebay use tyer additive on the back wheeks only ! there you go
I think so. In Germany you can still buy it. Also Tamiya USA does say it is temporarily not available but not discontinued. Maybe you check some larger US Tamiya online stores!?
steering tie rod is wrong way pal.

orci77 3 years ago
Does the TT-01 have metal diff gears? How much maintainance does a bevel-type differential need? Nice car.
Hoser95842 3 years ago
The gears inside are out of metal. The housing ist made of plastic.
For a bevel gear very few maintenance is needed. Much less than for a ball diff.

Just got pulled back into RC stuff recently when my coworker got a Mini-Z AWD... that tiny little thing drifts!!

sporadicidiocy 3 years ago
I guess it depends on a certain degree in which country you live in.
But in general LRP, NOSRAM or GM produce good ESC.
As an Rx I have a Graupner XS-6 Sport. This is a Synthesizer and I am very pleased with it. The new Spectrums look good too.
Dont know your motor but I guess you will buy a new one anyhow ;-)
orci77 3 years ago
Hmm I've looked at a few Rx/Esc today.
So far I think I may settle on the Novak SuperRooster reversible ESC with Futaba JR RS310 Rx.. think that's good combo?
I've heard good things on the SuperRooster albeit it's a tad expensive.
Maybe I'll just get the RTR kit lol
sporadicidiocy 3 years ago
The point is that in Germany Novak and Futaba are not used quite often. This is due to local companies like LRP.
So unfortunately I cannot say if it is good or not.

The TT-01D should be the right choice.
See your local hobby shop for any help/advice.
In addition to the building kit you need a remote control, batteries and a charger.
orci77 3 years ago
Tnx men, Il just check the hobby shop if they have these car,do i need a DBOX to drift properly???
Craiver23 3 years ago
No, just practice!
Where would be the fun if the electronic would do all the work?
Check out the SG Drifters videos. Then you know what is possible with practice.
orci77 3 years ago
it cost more to build a car doesnt
instead of buying on rtr right
nice vid tho
masterkdrifter 3 years ago
In general the vendors sell a RTR for less than all the parts would cost on its own.
But normally the RTR parts are not so good. So sooner or later you will buy better parts.
So you could save money not buying RTR.

A Stock TT-01 surely not. A TT-01R if you don't take a too hot brushless. Anyhow I never tested this.
Yes there is a graphite kit from 3Racing.
orci77 4 years ago
My friend have a VXL brushless in his TT-01, only upgrade are ball bearings and alu driveshaft, it is holding very well to the power.
MikePeperni 4 years ago
i got a tt01d how can i make my car withstand 17t
vtechialist 4 years ago
Just get alu drive shaft #53620. The TT-01D is already well equipped.
Or like TT-01R take #3455877, #3455878 and (#51091 or #53783).
orci77 4 years ago
as i know TT01 model cant handle less than 23 t cause the chassis is not strong and the gear are make of plastic .
vtechialist 4 years ago
That the gear is made of plastic doesn't really matter. Since the speed gearing is same like TB Evo III.
But the plastic propeller shaft is not hard enough for stronger motors.
But as you see a TT-01R could easily withstand a 17T. No defects till now.
orci77 4 years ago
if you have a stock tt-01 and you want to put a 23t or less motor, its for sure you will need to get an esc(electric speed control)23t or less.and if you dont want problems with it, buy an aloy propeller shaft and ball bearings. i have a tt-01 and trust me they are tough and well designed!!

hi i just got a tt01 and was wunderin how long it takes to build it. could u please tell me?

Building the chassis takes about 2 hours. But take your time and do everything right.
I guess a unmodified TT-01 goes up to 30km/h.

hey orci77
thats a nice tt-01!
i want tune my tt-01
i want a speed 60/70 km/h

First go ball bearings and an aluminium driving shaft. You should try and maybe add adjustable suspension and aluminium steering.
60-70km/h are a lot of speed in my opinion. An LRP Challenge 17T gives you good speed (about 50-55km/h). If you want more I would take a brushless set.

i have the same kit TT-01R with 10t brushles motor i do around 60/65km/h
with my curris speed controler and alloy shocks most of the kit light by using carbon fiber parts i would fit heatsink and
nitro shoes wheels i am in the finals in every race and 1 to 3rd in the small races also on the drive shaft it is quite light the one with the kit so i would use a stronger heaver drive shaft you can buy upgrades of ebay use tyer additive on the back wheeks only ! there you go

is there brakes in rc cars?
willysoh93 4 years ago
Cars with electric engines, like this, brake with the enginge.
Nitro cars have brakes in one way or another.

I run a Rheinard Edition 415MSX. Awesome car, can't fault Tamiya for build quality, especially with their higher end TRF stuff.

do they still make this kit? I can not find any. nice choice with the lrp motor by the way.

I think so. In Germany you can still buy it. Also Tamiya USA does say it is temporarily not available but not discontinued. Maybe you check some larger US Tamiya online stores!?
