  • My dad is a nuerosurgeon. He works 70-75 hour a week. He make around 600,000 dollars but aftter taxes about 550,000. But honestly. REAL ESTATE IN LA IS A GOLDMINE! My mom sold a 10 million dollar home last month and got 1,500,000 (15%) of what is cost! Anyway yeah my dad may have a Lamborghini and an escalade, but is it really worth it?

  • Neuor surgeons spend their entire day having sex with nurses. I'm not even a doctor and God knows itø's easy to remove a brain tumour, It's just a craft

  • @MsTommyknocker its easy to remove a tumor...maybe, but if you want to patient to live while removing that tumor...its a little bit more difficult

  • dont ever EVER take someone telling you that you can not do it you put your mind yes the brain to it and you will do it !!!

  • you tell me i cant become a Neurosurgeon it dose no good im going to be one if i have to die trying no one will stop me !!

  • @gameingguy1998 learn to spell first

  • i belive that a Neurosurgeon is the smartest person on the earth they can do what a family doctor dose and MORE !!!

  • im 13 now i will more than likely be a surgeon in my 30's the youngest Neurosurgeon there is has to be at least 33-34 years old ;) !!

  • i am going to be a Neurosurgeon i love how the brain works. Neurosurgeons must

    1. make straight A's through out high school

    2. go to 4 year college and excle in a science or pre-med

    3. go to medical school for 4 years

    4. after you earn the (M.D.) (Medical Doctor) degree you will have to do a 7-8 year residentcy program !!!

  • @gameingguy1998 medical schools dont give a shit about highschool.... you could get a 2.5gpa, and as long as you get to college, and then get a 4.0.

  • 100% sure its 2-3 years for a family doctor non less a surgeon a surgeon like cardiac and neuro must go 7-8 years !!

  • Comment removed

  • @Justgetout You have 7 years of residency? Are you sure it isn't 2-3 years?

  • @MsTommyknocker Do you know how complicated the brain is? and "fiddling" around in your head is one of the most difficult disciplins to learn. I honestly don't know if you are joking or you're serious. you are extremely ignorant and you will never get very far in life

  • I am curious: What happens to the patient, when an earthquake/fire breaks out during an operation?

  • SO DEPRESSING JOB

  • @zachfresh Such a depression job* but at the end of the day when you save someones life does it really matter? and making 250,000 a year doesn't hurt either.

  • @Makaveli9822 I think they make more than that. I heard it was around $600k but they end up losing about $200k in lawsuits and insurance, I could be wrong though.

  • HAHA! Why is How to Eat Sushi on the side?

  • i cant believe this neurosurgeon is good looking...AND dedicated, makes me want to BE LIKE HIM

  • omg1:10 - I REALLY really want ot save lives now.

But thinking of knowing how to balance everything is making me doubt. Truth is, 99% of the people that want to be a doctor, fails.

  • I like i said going to be a brain surgeon No !!!!! YOU ARE RONG do you really think im going to school 15 years just to do brain surgery and do it for mony NO i love helping people and the human brain is the most Fabulous organ. all human brains are

  • Well Brain surgery is the hardest sergery out there so it dose take years of school

  • Every one can do it the key is to belive it ;)

  • True im going to become a Neurosurgeon

  • neurosurgeons earn about a half million of dollars every year. and they say the best part of their job is save a life, yeah, thats why their patients go in bankrupt after a surgery.

i choose a painless fast cheap dead instead of giving everything i have to the greedy medics.

oh yes, i know, there r about 0.0000001% of medics who really do their job for real passion.

  • @Gandalf17

Ah yes, I am sure you work 100+ hours per week as well...you sad, sad, bigot.

  • @Gandalf17 get your facts staright , the reason they charge high is because neurosurgery entails the most sophisticated instruments and the most skillful surgery team.half a million dollar is nothing as compared to 140 hours/ week that neurosurgical residents spend for almost 6-7 years to get trained followed by 16 hours work routine even on the weekends as an attending. So yes they do it only because they love treating brain disorders. people like you only look at the dollars !!

  • @Gandalf17 Where else will they get the money for surgery? Raise taxes? Families pay for surgeries for their loved ones so they can spend just a few more years with that person. Naive much?

  • This looks very interesting. Though I don't think I'm nearly smart enough to do that.

  • @TheFrostyJackson Your Wrong, You are smart enough to do anything you want to :) But i will support you no matter what you want to do :)

  • i just got in to med skol!! yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • How much do u make

  • this is my dream , to be a neurosurgeon. I hope it comes true

  • @alexisbug21 YOu know what i hope you do Good luck and hope you achieve I want to be a neurosurgeon myself Add me sometime hey and just want to say to everyone good luck with there career and i am jealous @valid4life for getting into med school can't wait till i start

  • @MelnDyl2010 thank you so much for those kind words! i hope you follow your dream of becoming one:)

  • @buenlove Most people who want to persue medicine is because they want to help others, unless your a twat who is only in for the money. But you also have to have interest in medicine itself not only the patients. Also just helping people is not enough. You have to show the committee that you infact can handle life and death situations, You can except the fact that you may kill someone. That is why I believe this field is the extreme. Not only can you save lives but you can also end them.

  • Intresting job. I've saved one person life and it was my cousin that she almost got hit by the car, I saw her and I pulled her away. It was great feeling afterwards. I was actually thinking about her life. I'm wondering that how much satisfaction I will get if I rescue patiets from the brain tumor :)

  • Richard Byrne you are a hero!

  • Forget about the Money look how cool this job looks!!!!!

  • Let me tell you kids a little something about being a doctor.

If you want to be a doctor just for the good salary, you won't make it.

Somewhere in med school, or perhaps even beyond med school (for those of you who are brighter), you will realize just how demanding the life of a med student/doctor is and you will also have to make LOT'S of sacrifices.

If you don't have a deep passion for medicine, you are probably going to quit right there.

Trust me, I've seen so many people go down this road.

  • Someone help me figure out what's wrong?plez My symptoms: Tingling in the arms Pain in the left leg going all the way down to my toes Back of neck hurts Tightness of neck and shoulders Blurry vision out of no where Light headed Fluid feeling running down the back of neck I get dizzy Amost like it's hard to focus on one thing. Copper taste in my mouth, Metallic. Body heating up out of nowhere Body feeling like it's paralyzed and I'm going to fall or black out Weakness in my legs numbness :(

  • @FalloutMessiah

I'm currently seeing a neurologist and I'm under going a Myelogram this week. There's a whole world on youtube that could bring some insight and hope as to what people are going through so I figure why not ask others especially in a neurosurgeon subject. If I offended you by asking this question about my conditions I'm sorry. I'm simply trying to get any insight from experienced people in this field to make sure I'm not misdiagnosed.

  • @Pacerjames

no no no!!!!!!! I am not offended one single bit

Its just that there are so many people on youtube and even if Ben carson answered your comment it isstill better to talk to a doctor face to face. Besides some creeps could give you the wrong advice. Anyway I am very sorry about that and I truly wish you the Best of luck

  • @FalloutMessiah No it's cool! I understand totally where your coming from and your right about bad advice here. I having a myelogram done next Tuesday, I'm not looking forward to it but it needs to be done. Thanks for your wishes and I hope all is well. Thanks

  • YES this is so interesting

  • I want to be a NUEROSURGEON!!!... In my next life.... ;P

  • Now this is a man who is doing something truly worthwhile with his life. He is inspiring.

  • "Why you would want to go through all the years of school just to bear enormous responsibility and work 70+ hour weeks for the rest of your working life as a neurosurgeon?"

Look in this man's eyes. That's true compassion. You can tell he cherishes the responsibilities put upon him, and he probably wouldn't change that for the world.

  • Wow - he's a neurosurgeon? He looks so young :)

  • It's like I wanna be a surgeon but then I see all these cardiac and neurosurgeons that are old already. I still wanna LIVE life. -____-

I don't want life to just pass right before my eyes.

  • I have watched this video 10 times at least. Something so eery and fascinating about it.

  • So strange....im reading so many negative comments about how "crappy this doctor's life may be" or "he looks depressed" or "its a terrible job".....and its so funny since most of them come from people who are NOT NEUROSURGEONS. its hilarious that you can have such a strong opinion of a lifestyle you have never experienced lol Im not a neurosurgeon yet, thats why im not going to say anything disrespectful to this video, but being a doctor is challenging as well as rewarding. Period.

  • No amount of money is worth what surgeons have to go through to be where they are now. Do you honestly think that the world's top physicians are in just for the money? People who go into the medical field for the money are the first to drop out of medical school. A high salary doesn't compensate for the physical, emotional and spiritual demands of a job in a field like neurology.

  • This guy sounded an looked depressed as hell, you can tell he was trying to bottle up alot of emotions. Surgeons do have the highest suicide rates in the country. It's a tough job, i cannot stress enough to dont do this job for the money because you will NEVER make it and you will NEVER be happy. There's easier ways to make money go into finance or something. Surgery isn't a JOB, it's a LIFESTLYE. You're dedicating your life to others, and no amount of money can make up for that.

  • I have great respect for neurosurgeons, especially Dr. Ben Carson.

But DO NOT do it for the money. Yes, they often make more than half a million dollars a year, but they also work 60-80 hours per week, AFTER their grueling residency of 7 years. There just isn't much time to enjoy the wealth, and unless you really love neurosurgery, it is NOT worth doing for the money.

Only do neurosurgery if you love the job because most of your waking hours will be spent on it.

  • @Justgetout yes, but do you think these people didnt get into it because of the money also?

  • I want to be a Neurosurgeon because I want to have alot of money. Not for myself mostly; because I've seen my parents struggle and I have not have all the things I've wanted; but I've been greatful. I want to give my kids anything they want, a good education and a nice home. I also find it fascinating to be working around people who will become your close friends. Anything is possible; If I want to be a Neurosurgeon, I will be.

  • @pwuint12 One doesn't become a neurosurgeon for the money; one does it to save peoples' lives.

  • @pwuint12

Let me advise you. If you're going to try and become a Dr for money, you won't make it. Try being a pharmacist/dentist. They make around 100k- and that's good. Becoming a Physician takes devoting 4 years of your life to research and studying, in order to get into another 4 year school that will destroy your social life. Money isn't enough of a motivator. Everyone I've seen attempt this for money, has failed. It's easier said. Even people who genuinely want it mostly don't make it.

  • this is why i want to do this job, perfect job to do if you love to help people.

  • My father is a neurosurgeon and he makes about $680,000 to $828,000 a year according to how many patients he receives trough the year. He loves his job and he is wanting me to become a neurosurgeon, but honestly 15 years is very long to study.

  • @LoveTheCity123

I'm sure your father is an excellent surgeon and I admire his success. He deserves every dollar he makes, but PLEASE don't share information about how much he gets paid.

  • @LoveTheCity123 are you really , really rich then? and i know im only in grade 10 and i want to be one

  • @saun4455 Haha! My parents always raised me to not talk about money because it is seen as "tacky", but yes. We are very financially secure. He has a new BMW 7 Series and we live in the Trump Tower here in Manhattan.

  • Very amazing video. I agree with @Pugzilla69... Don't become a Neurosurgeon for the money. It is true, you don't have time to spend it! I am currently attending school studying Pre-Medicine as it is my dream to either become a Neurosurgeon or Medical Examiner--Right now I'm weighing those two because of the two different lifestyles those doctors have but I do know this: It would be amazing to be any type of Doctor, and no not for the money, but for the happiness you get out of helping people.

  • You need 15 years of studying to be a Neurosurgeon.

    4 years pre-med.

    4 years Medical school

    6-7 years residency.

but over all it's worth it because the feeling you get after saving people's life is way beyond what you get paid.

  • @jembelinho hey im 17 n i want to pursue this career..can u give me advice on what jobs u can get after 4 years of pre-med..and after 4 years of medicical school,,cuz i need to be able to support my mom, and hopefully a family while in college 1 day.....im not only init for the money but really want to help ppl out..2nd option is to become a psychiatrist since im currently going through social phobia and would love to one day help ppl out with this..

  • @HuRR305CaNeZ Some hospitals pay you during residency..first year 45,000 and each year it goes up by 5,000 that's what I know... guess what..am 17 too :)

  • @jembelinho

You do it to save lives and also importantly for the love of science.

  • @SG02JATT

    Wrong reply, sorry.

  • @jembelinho but how you pay for all of that or get money while studying. I cant imagine the prices.

  • @jembelinho I flew air ambulance for a few years and always had tremendous respect for the medical crew in the back of the aircraft. There are days where I wished I had pursued that instead of aviation.

  • you 30G's a month

  • i wanna be a neurosurgeon =D first i wanted to be a plastic surgeon but screw that neurosurgeons make wayyyyy more money =D

  • @nenagalvan

....and have no time to spend it. You don't become a neurosurgeon or a doctor of any type for that matter for the money alone.

You just want the money and you would be a crappy doctor.

Not that you stand a chance anyways.

  • @Pugzilla69 If you pursue money you should go into business, finance, banking, law, etc.

  • @Pugzilla69 I've met plenty of people who want to be a doctor for the money or just because of their academic acheivement. I'm becoming a doctor because I'm curious of life and becoming a doctor will help me better understand the world I live in and the people who live in it. Me? I got at 2.01 in HS. Not the brightest kid in the world.

  • @Pugzilla69 you're right that he shouldn't be after the money lonely, its not because he is going to be a bad physician but more likely because he will be disappointed. But who gave you the right to say decided if he as a chance or not?

  • @nenagalvan OMG THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT TOO well actually plastic surgeons can make more money with a private practice but im interested in the neurology field

  • @HockeyRules261 yusss it seems very apealing ^^ cuz if i save someones life id be happy afterwards but lets be honest that is a very dangerous procedure removing tumors frm the brain and stuff nd well thinking about their families and all the bad, sad, and hard momets they must be going thru kinda breaks my heart =( but unlike plastic surgery ppl dnt sufffer because of a terrible disease or tumor i think they go through pain bcuz they want to or just for their apearance (obviosly)

  • @nenagalvan Sorry to break this to you, but if you're studying to become a Neurosurgeon just for the money, you're going to be disappointed in the end when you actually do get to working and receive your first paycheck. I have a family friend who just started a year ago and his bank account is very much high in income, but, he hardly has an hour or two to go out and even purchase a new tube of toothpaste because the job requires much time dedication. Don't do it for the money...don't.

  • @kidfresh3f You should learn how to utilize correct grammar and spelling then, it would be highly beneficial if you want to be anything close to what he is in his career.

  • this is why i want to be a neurosurgeon . :)

  • This is great. Hope to be like him someday. GOD BLESS YOU INDEED!!!
