I put this short clip up as per his specifications and it has 1/4 of all my views. He said most people are not interested in substancial clips with educational media, they are interested in short shocking clips.
Vanuatu is a great place. I wish I could go back there. The people are wonderfull, and I still rate Vanuatu as our best trip ever. Laos was a close second.
I realize many of you have never been to Vanuatu so you are making judgements based on this small video clip. I live in a rural village in Vanuatu for 3 years. First thing. This guy is explaining what his ancestors used to do. Not what is currently practiced in Vanuatu. It would be like a person from a southern planation describing how they used to treat slaves. But no background is given for the short clip and maybe the person who posted it doesn't know. It is completely out of context.

I still rate Vanuatu as our best trip ever with Laos (uploaded a couple months ago) closely behind. The folks in Laos still live the way they have for hundreds of years. We met men in different villages that were identified as a village chief, and they all had pants and shirts on, unless they were doing a dance for us. In one village we met the high chief, the second chief and the third chief. Only one had his shirt off, and he had it hanging over his shoulder. I sure would like to meet the chiefs you speak of. They obviously follow the traditions more closely than the chiefs we met. We wanted to see the REAL Vanuatu, not the westernized part.

I googled "twi akan ghana" and find that it is an African language of the country Ghana. I have not been there yet, but it sounds fascinating. We went to Botswana for the animals, but the culture is almost all westernized. Vanuatu is East North East of Australia. I love seeing different cultures, and although diverse, all have the basic needs, showing me that all humans are truly the same. Hold on to your culture. Too many have already been lost.

Most villages have a nakamal or village clubhouse which serves as a meeting point for men and as a place to drink kava. Villages also have male and female-only sections. These sections are situated all over the villages; in nakamals, special spaces are provided for females when they are in their menstruation period.

This video posting was kind of an experiment. A friend and I were discussing what gets a lot of attention as Utube clip. I put this short clip up as per his specifications and it has 1/4 of all my views. He said most people are not interested in substancial clips with educational media, they are interested in short shocking clips.
Vanuatu is a great place. I wish I could go back there. The people are wonderfull, and I still rate Vanuatu as our best trip ever. Laos was a close second.

I realize many of you have never been to Vanuatu so you are making judgements based on this small video clip. I live in a rural village in Vanuatu for 3 years. First thing. This guy is explaining what his ancestors used to do. Not what is currently practiced in Vanuatu. It would be like a person from a southern planation describing how they used to treat slaves. But no background is given for the short clip and maybe the person who posted it doesn't know. It is completely out of context.

I can see why you may think that from this video clip taken completely out of context. He isn't talking about currently eating people. He is talking about his ancestors. The same way someone in the U.S. might talk about slavery. I lived in Vanuatu for 3 years and can attest to the recognition it has received as one of the world's happiest places. Surprisingly, the culture is far more peaceful that the U.S. and the people are overwhelmingly generous people. The video clip is very misleading

I still rate Vanuatu as our best trip ever with Laos (uploaded a couple months ago) closely behind. The folks in Laos still live the way they have for hundreds of years. We met men in different villages that were identified as a village chief, and they all had pants and shirts on, unless they were doing a dance for us. In one village we met the high chief, the second chief and the third chief. Only one had his shirt off, and he had it hanging over his shoulder. I sure would like to meet the chiefs you speak of. They obviously follow the traditions more closely than the chiefs we met. We wanted to see the REAL Vanuatu, not the westernized part.

I googled "twi akan ghana" and find that it is an African language of the country Ghana. I have not been there yet, but it sounds fascinating. We went to Botswana for the animals, but the culture is almost all westernized. Vanuatu is East North East of Australia. I love seeing different cultures, and although diverse, all have the basic needs, showing me that all humans are truly the same. Hold on to your culture. Too many have already been lost.

Just try to discipline your kid without the state taking them away, or put a swing set up in your own back yard without getting the HOA's permission. What kind of society have we created where we have to get every one else's approval to do anything; where we can not make our own personal decisions? Where did our freedom go?

You tell them Qwevu! Those folks handed us more lap-lap than we could eat in a month! (see my video on making Lap-Lap) They were well fed. I liked the banana Lap-Lap best. If you want to send food to some people, send it to Cambodia. That is one desolate place. Some friends tell us North Korea is much worse than Cambodia.

I have trying to think how to respond to your comment for a couple weeks. A civilation does not have to follow the strict rules of American or european society. These folks have developed their own rules of conduct that are no better or worse than our own. Actually I envy some of their characteristics. These folks are just as civilized as anyone else on this planet.
