  • sucks to be rocco at this tempo right about now.

  • BRUCE CONTE GUITAR RIFA

  • GREAT ORGAN SOLO CHESTER IS DA MAN

  • Pickett in the Thickett

  • Ooh, a brass doubler. Now THAT'S hip. You never see that.

  • @funk54 It's Edward McGee on vocals.

  • this is hip

  • Damn they sped this up

  • Holy cow! Back in high school, it took us over 6 minutes to get through this. These cats were on FIRE! Of course, high school was '76-'77. :)

  • Like I said, this is TOP Warp 9...!

    No joke.

    Excellent memories!

  • altísimo tema y altísimo baile que se pega el saxofonista, genial jaja

  • Lenny Williams had a unique voice that helped put TOP on the map

  • EU TENHO LP ORIGINAL,TOTALMENTE EXCELENTE TODO BOM

  • RON E. BECK FUNKY MOFO!!!!

  • David Garibaldi = God

  • @Lehmann108 this drummer is not dave garibaldi ;)

  • @Lehmann108 David is not the drummer here.

  • What's not to like about such a truly great band with such terrific individual musicians. whatiship73, did you also post the other montreaux what is hip video with great audio/video? If so, I wish you would re-post. Thank you.

  • One of the best bands from the late 60s early 70s, never caught on much on the East Coast, but the HORNS!!! Love it!

  • @bobbiejaeger Just to set the record straight. Except a 5 or so year down turn in the 80s TOP has been hugely popular. They've been filling up venues for the last 30 years here on the east coast. In fact they're now more popular then they ever were!

  • As a band we love all the hits in this song and funky groove that the bass player and the drummer kept. The performance was great!

  • CLASSIK!

  • they just dont make music this good anymore!

  • Chester Thompson on keyboard - oh my gosh -- Brings bac memories of The Palimino , Whiskey a go-go , The Roxy and The Golden bear

  • chris tucker on vocals :P

  • Holy keyboard solo. I'll be copping some licks from that in the morning.

  • Ok I'm thinking he had some nose candy before the robot dance. I've done it before. In fact without drugs, some of the best music wouldn't be. Reggae has it's own. Jimi had his choice. Marvin supposedly had a bad habit at one time, but Jimi & Marvin was nothing more than a gift from God. Many artists have tough lives and are pretty sensitive cats. The unknown drummer sounding funkier than Garibaldi here. Squib Cakes is NICE though. We're all great. Shine bright. You can have Drake.

  • Edward McGee does a good job on vocals with the faster tempo here. The great Lenny Williams sang on the original version. Check out Emilio and Lenny Pickett keeping up with the footwork here! Rocco killing it as always - steady as a rock. And Greg Adams wearing out the valves on his trumpet. Doc is Mr. Cool, as usual. Conte's back with the band, the last I knew. Killer band, and still as funky and hot as ever. You HAVE to see these guys live, worth the trip from anywhere!

  • Damn I've never noticed that Edward McGee looks like Terry Crews ;)

  • Man I'm 19 and THIS is what I consider real music haha some of know what good music p.s gaga and Kesha r awful haha

  • baddest horn section of any group.

  • Great groove, as tight as an gnat's asshole!

  • ROCCO. god damn what a tempo but Rocco played like a pro as always.

  • Proppa...doesnt get much better...if only young people today knew ANYTHING about music...lady gaga? I nearly pissed myself laughing at her pathetic whiny, paper thin voice

  • @Hedsta i wudnt say she has a bad voice, sadly shes one of the best out there at the moment, god i hope real music comes back

  • i played saxaphone in this video

  • @DougandJoshExplosion nope. you were a fetus.

  • @ericandrewmcleodhowk a ho my friend...i lied about my youtube age... aha! still have the same haircut and style though from this video

  • how are the audience just sat down not moving at all? They should be up dancing to that awesome funk!

  • Who says white boyz can't dance? Maybe it's his fro that gives him the groove.

This video proves once and for all that the 70s weren't a complete waste. Way cool!

  • @Bellingus That was Lenny Pickett, who was bandleader of the SNL band for a long time. Not sure if he still leads them now, but he was there for years.

  • WOW!!! LORD JESUS!!! THIS IS FUUUUNK!!! :)

    Thanx for Posting ;)

  • LOL @ guy with cape.

  • Them white boys got some SOUL!

  • I love Edward McGee's voice! One of the best singer the band had... I'm wondering if anyone knows what happened to him? Couldn't find nothing on the net... Cheers

  • @LeGlobeur Well by the look in his eyes possibly drugs.

  • Simply Awesome!! I personally like the tempo & groove!

  • Amazing Performance.

  • Holy..! The speed is insane!

  • Hold on muthafucka! This is awesome! Great fine!

  • one of the best horn sections ever. on the west coast you had sly, top, and war holding down. thank god for good music.

  • Tight like a mutha, but toooo fast! No grove to the move. Dug that dancing, though!

  • Yes Doppelgamer, it is! It ruins lives.

  • Yes Doppelgamer, it is! It ruins lives.

  • Yes Doppelgamer, it is! It ruins lives.

  • Edward McGee on vocals... cocaine's a hell of a drug, huh?

  • @Doppelgamer

As for Edward - he has an amazing voice (cocaine or noT)

  • have you more from this show i love the vocal

singer Edward McGee the song its so nice please give me answer thanks an bye

  • This is one of the tightest and energetic

version of this tune ever performed by

    TOP..... Funky drummer Ronnie Beck

    and his Ludwig Vistalites...... Cool!!!!!

  • This is the utmost best funk song ever performed. And of course its Tower of Power. The best funk group with a lot of soul thrown in.

Saw them on my birthday opening for Santana in 1974 and ToP are still the rage.

    F-U-N-K

  • Wow I didn't know that much. But If thats the case why did Emilio and Doc kick Rocco out reguarding extensive Heroin use?

  • i think LP was also the youngest member too. like 22 or somthing.

  • is it true the reason why Garibaldi wasn't with them for a couple of years cause of "Soul Vaccination" writing credits?

  • I know how LP is with the dancing but watching Emilio do it too. GOLD!

  • T.O.P. was the FUNKIEST Black/White band of the 70's bar-none. TIMELESS FUNK!!

  • This is a beauty! Nice horn steps!

  • haha love prestias beard!

  • does anyone how the trumpet player is getting that tone??

is he using a french horn mouthpeice?

  • He's right on the mic, and it's probably going through a phaser or something.

  • So god damn funky!

  • LP Lenny Pickett - LP Lenny Pickett

  • Bruce Conte rocking it here! But oh, LP...that outfit and fro....ROFL! 3:20 - he even has a sequined sax on his back - ha!

  • Chester Thompson is a bad MF.

And you should hear him play drums.

  • you know that the drummer chester thompson is not the chester thompson playing keyboard? they just have the same name coincidentally ;)

  • i used to think that for years.lol

  • Both of them are superb. the guy who played with FZ and Phil Collins

  • Right On Bro They Wrote A Song For You

  • the speed o' light version!!!...thanks!

  • You got that shit right!

    Good one!
